HAHAHA! That's perfect! And yes, prom was mentioned... and then Rich was nice enough to suggest a limo... soft comfy seats, large enough to lie down on...

He seems like a nice enough kid. He actually helped me work on my GTO one day and his dad does own a shop... so their is some hope... not that I wish ill on anyone... especially a fellow GTO owner. I'll have to tell him about this forum and get him to post up! Wait, then he might see this thread... LOL!

GGG I'm not envious of your position, hopefully the young man will do the right thing with your daughter and his car.

maybe, just maybe he's like one of the guys that worked for me. one day i was getting into my GTO as they walked by and he said "hey, he has the same car as me! (G6)" one of the others was like "not even close." then i fired it up and he about tripped over himself doing a double-take.

or... he DID buy himself a GTO (probably an '04) and it'll be gone within 1 week. just ground her long enough to get through it.

1). The fact your wife doesn't think his car is that fast, ANY car can be made faster with minimal mods. I'll tell you what, I have a cam he can have! I guarantee, once he installs it, the car wont run. Sure, it'll cost him a few grand to replace the valves and fix the motor, but at least your daughter will be safe...;-)

2). These car's weren't all that fast either!

3). When Johnny Drag Race manages to NOT see the car pulling out in front of him because he's doing 50 over the speed limit, who is going to pull your daughters head out of the windshield?

If she's worried about prom, make him be a stand up guy and rent a limo! That's what we did when we were kids and NOBODY got hurt--well, the hangover did some, but we were all able togo home the next day.

These cars are incredibly safe, but you don't want this:

THIS CAR WAS STOCK--LOOK AT THE AIR CLEANER!

This one flipped. Doubtful the driver or passenger walked away:

that last one was pretty gnarly. i really wish the roof structure was stronger on these cars. then again, i am sure speed was a big factor. i don't think all rollovers end up like that...
