I saw a post like this in another forum and thought it would be useful to use here to gather some information from the professional and amateur detailers. A possible sticky might also be nice.

I understand product of choice may vary from situation to situation and will also depend on what color of vehicle you are detailing, however just your overall favorite product for the category is fine. Just cut and paste the following into your post and fill in your favorite product.

Can we make a list of products not to buy and why?

Do not buy:
CG Scratch & Swirl - Doesn't get the swirls, just reduces
CG ProDetailer - Leaves hazyness after you wipe it off, plus it smells like cotton candy which for some reason pisses me off.
Liquid Glass - Left white spots in all the chips I have in my front bumper

After seeing a lot of people recommend that 303 Aerospace protectant for the interior, I decided to find some and try it out. I must say that I am impressed with it! Leaves a nice shine but not too greasy. It does not have a smell to it either.

I have been using the Zaino Z-16 for the tires but am thinking about trying the Adams VRT stuff that a lot of people seem to like.

I need to get some car soap as well so I am thinking I might try Duragloss 901.

Tire Dressing: #281, Duragloss "Wet Look" Tire Shine

Wheel Sealant: #105 Duragloss TPP (Works fine)

Leather Care: Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Wipes (Mmm.. Cherries!)

Quick Detailer: #951, Duragloss AW (Aquawax)

I used the Bilt Hambler clay bar this weekend and really wasn't too impressed with it. It's nice to use but it's picky. It seems I had to have the exact amount of mist on the paint for it to pickup anything. If I had it just a little too wet, it would just slide around. If I didn't have enough, it really sticks!
I ordered some VRT to try out on the tires this week.
I ended up trying some of the Adam's car wash instead of the Duragloss. I like the smell of Adam's and it makes a good amount of suds.

I am curious as to the difference in clay bars. I have use Griots Garage and Zaino and they seem about the same.....

Do you guys use Quick Detailer as the lubricant or heavily concentrated car wash like Zaino recommends? The problem with that method is you have to wash the car again.

Looking for ideas.

By the way, I use Zainos system and have been very pleased with the results.

It depends on what clay bar you use. They all recommend something different. With the BH all that is needed is water. It's a soft clay as opposed to other clay bars like Zaino, that are a little tougher. With the Zaino bar I used the car wash soap mix. With Adam's, I think I used the quick detail stuff.

Now that i have tested a lot more products i think i would change a few of my choices in that thread but those are still good products
Perhaps it's time to bump and let the experts keep us appraised as to what is their latest favorites and ones to stay away from?
