I'm currently talking to someone about one off custom offsets for a staggered set of wheels and would like suggestions on what the ideal offsets for 18x8.5 with 245s up front and 18x9.5 with 275s on the rear be with possible rolling of the rear being the extent in modding with absolutely no cutting? Your help is much appreciated guys thanks.
and you feel like that would be the absolute best one could do if you had your run of choice for a custom offset for front and rears with those tires? I just want to get it right the first time since they'd be custom and don't want to run into the issues we're known to face, but rather eliminate those issues.
For 8.5" up front the perfect offset so that you don't rub on the strut and still stay within the fenders is +50. Any less and it starts poking out, any more and you're rubbing on the strut.
For 9.5" in the back, something like +50 will clear the inner fender and will let you run 275s with just a small touchup of the fender lip. Any less and you really have to start rolling the whole lip off, any more and you're going to have to BFH the inner liner a bit.
+50? That's tucking way inside the fender. Stock wheels already are known for rubbing the strut and an 8.5 50et moves in 8mm closer to the strut. A +40 is still inside the fender and gives plenty of room to the strut side.
9.5" with 50mm for the rear... and agree with above, 40mm offset up front with an 8.5" wheel allows you to easily mount a 245 and have strut clearance.
18x8.5 +35mm offset up front with 235/40/18 Nitto Motivos. 18x9.5 +45mm offset out back with 275/35/18 Nitto Invos. Quarter panel lips have been trimmed away.
Key word there being "way". Yes this technically tucks, but barely. Maybe it's the 255 tires that make it closer to the fender lip when compressed than it looks.
I got 18 8.5 front with 35 offset and 18 9.5 rear 45 offset running nitto 245 front and 275 rear. The front stuck out too much IMO so I changed them for 45 offset and now Im happy
+40 offset with 245 tire just lightly touches weighted string with thumb pressed against fender directly above center. This was perfect offset for me, it may not be for someone going lower than I am.
edit: this is 8.0. An 8.5 wheel would sit at same location but at the wheel, 6mm wider. There is 7-8mm to that string at the wheel so that is also about perfect, in fact wheel is currently being built at these specs.
