So my year ended with a deer deciding to collide with my GTO. A rather fitting close to 2016, if you ask me.

I'm back!!! Formerly known as BCNUL8R. I had a pbm 2004 gto that ran 10.1 at 134 mph back in 2007. I sold that car in 2008. I was lucky enough to pick up a 2004 gto IBM with blue interior this weekend. It's 1 of 369 built and it only has 26,000 miles on it. I'm pretty excited to be back in a GTO and the mods will start immediately. Working on getting a cam and converter install scheduled at the moment. That will give me something to play with for a year or so until I can get serious with the mods again...

Totally forgot to check back here.

It hit the DF fender and then bounced down the side of the car. Fender got a big dent. Hood and quarter panel got some wrinkles. I'd just put on a new '04 hood like three months prior, so that sucks. Mirror was destroyed. Door glass, window trim, and door scratched, but sheetmetal undamaged.

Car needed some paint work on the bumpers and spoiler, so I'm going to try to roll that in at the same time. Just been procrastinating at getting it into a shop since the car is still driveable. Not having a driver's side mirror certainly makes you realize how much you actually need it in these cars.

It's been a decade since I've made a pass LOL...I was looking for a car again and almost bought a C6 vette, but then I found this GTO and it was just calling my name. It's a little weird sitting behind the wheel of a GTO again, but I love it. I'm getting a cam and stall installed at the end of March just to give me something to play with this summer. Long term I plan to get back to low 10's or maybe high 9's.

Maybe we can meet up sometime this summer!

Cool...I've got to relearn everything about these cars. I've got a bad vibration in the steering wheel 0ver 80 mph that gets drastically worse when braking from that speed. 70 and below the car drives like a dream. If I brake hard from 60 down to 0 no vibration in the wheel. My first thought was rotors, but it should do it from 60 down to if it's that bad over 80 mph. The tires are 8 years old and rotated regularly but sat a lot also. All 4 tires have bad uneven wear on the inside. I seem to remember my old one having that same problem. I seem to remember a lot of alignment front and rear and warped rotor issues on these cars. I'm going to start with getting new tires on her and getting it aligned and go from there. Could have bad tie rod ends, but with only 26,000 miles it seems unlikely.

I would look into strut mounts & bearing and radius rod bushings. I replaced mine at 20,000 with Lovells that I got from Kollar, the stockers were shot. Also remove the lug nut and retighten them with a torque wrench.

I think I found the problem...see my thread in the brakes section...The car has what I believe to be Lovells radius rod bushings on it already. I will be doing a few more suspension mods after I get the car back from Speed Inc. at the end of this month.

On my first GTO the only suspension mods I had were...King stock height rear springs, Koni adjustable rear shocks, SLP rear sway bar, and diff mount bushing insert. I was getting 1.5x 60' times with that setup.

I also had a BMR driveshaft, CV's, and stubs as well as a Kaaz in the stock differential. Pricing that stuff out with what is available now I may be better off to go straight to a 9" IRS from either Gforce or DSS this time around.

My front...radius rod bushings,Koni struts with factory springs and no sway bar('cause I'm crazy like that).

My rear...King springs(will be installing bags in them)Koni shocks,Harrop diff cover and x-member bushing(I highly recommend). I did get a 1.59 with that set up

You are right, for the money,a Gforce or DSS rear would be the way to go.

A couple progress pictures from the cam/headers/converter install at Speed Inc.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

...And the brake install I did a couple weeks ago. Refurbished OEM calipers, new rotors, and new pads as well as steel braided lines on all four corners.

[IMG][/IMG]

...And the car...

[IMG][/IMG]

King springs, Koni adjustable shocks, sway bar, and a few bushings have been ordered for the rear suspension.

Thank you! Tom from speed called yesterday and said the tuner wasn't happy with the cai that was on the car. I was unimpressed with it myself, but it was already on the car from the previous owner so I didn't mess with it. They said the stock intake would flow better than that thing. We decided to go ahead and get a K&N cai on the car since they could have it this morning. So hopefully that is the only hang up and I can have some dyno numbers for you by this evening or tomorrow morning. At least I hope so...lol...I'm suppose to pick it up tomorrow so I can return this rental car.

Cam is a Texas speed 228r. Off the top of my head I think the specs are: 228/228 600 lift and a 112 lsa. Long tubes with off road pipes and magnaflow exhaust. I haven't really seen any dyno numbers with this cam on an ls1 so I don't really know what to expect. It seems to do real well on the ls2 from what I've seen so I'll just have to wait to find out what it does.

I remember my first GTO when I had heads and cam I ran 275 Nitto 555r drag radials on a pair of stock 17" wheels. They did pretty well at that power level. Anyone within a reasonable driving distance have a pair of stock 17" wheels they want to sell cheap? I just want to run one or two of the midnight madness street races for fun down here at the Eddyville 1/8th mile to see what it will run.

Dyno pull...

Hey hadagto it's good to see you back. I have my stock wheels I might be willing to part with. My buddy races his 72 prostreet short bed Chevy truck at Eddyville almost every weekend I'll have to try to get down there this summer to watch.

Thanks, I remember meeting you at Cedar Falls. I've decided to go ahead and get some 15" wheels for a track only setup. If any of you see me at the track make sure to come say HI.

I'm going to try to make the first "Midnight Madness" at Eddyville, but it's going to depend on parts arriving in time. If not I will definitely be at the second one in June. I doubt I will travel to Cedar Falls this year, but I haven't completely ruled it out either.

It seems like everything for these cars is a 4 week wait or more, but that's ok it's the price you pay for being different instead of building a fox body like nearly everyone else LOL.

Sure looks close to my old car. A lot of things are different unless he just didn't know what was actually in it because he bought it already modded.

edit: after blowing up some of the paper work it does have my name on some of the invoices. So he must have rebuilt the motor at some time because it has a different crank in it now.
