Well decided to shipped the exhaust housing off to Swain Tech to have them Coated with there White Lighting Coating... I've heard very good things about this on a few turbo forums.

Little updat.
After a few months I'll going to be switching back to my 4L65. Don't care much for the 80. It's heavy and makes the car feel like a bus.
Will be switching it back and doing the upgrade turbos at the same time.

Those DKT APS Turbo replacements look amazing!

Did you not like the gear ratios on the 4L80? Who built the 4L65E you had before and are switching back to? It seems rare to see a 4L65E stand up to the torque and drag action that your car experiences.

I had a fried built my 65. I got all the parts for it and had him built it. I only switch to the 80 for insurance. But didn't like the gear or the fact I have to shift it.
My 65 was all good and was in the car for more than 2 years with out a issue. Ended up braking the sprag in it just driving around not even in the power.
I have around 3000.00 in hard parts in the 65 to handle the power my car is making. Never has a 3 gear failure with it.

So finally going to get the 62/66 turbos put on
Been playing with the car and wondering why it's not making the power it should.
Well found out the torque converter that came with the 80 is toasted.
I new the lock up was burnt up but it's losing about 1500 RPM efficiency in 3rd gear so basically that means that if the motor is at 6300 RPM the input speed on the transmission it's only 4800 to 4900 RPM. That's a very low efficiency rating on a converter
In contrast my last converter would only be about 2 or 3 hundred RPM difference in 3rd gear, with out locking it up....
So I order a 10 inch triple disc lock up convertor from FTI. I've had great luck with them in the past and after talking with then I know they will get me right.
Need to get the efficiency up big time especially with the new turbos

Well finally got the car back in the shop and having the new turbos installed and a new FTI triple lock up convertor
Took some pictures of the custom 62/66 turbos vs the LG motorsports turbos
Can really see the difference between the two.

Did the test fitting with the help transmission still in and only a few most will be needed to get the bigger turbos to fit.

Passenger side frame rail will need to be clearanced for the compressor housing. Not much at all.
All new oil and water lines and fittings
The power steering rack lines have to be reduce to fit the driver side turbo inlet.

Got all new oil and water lines and new fitting local.. nitrous- 4an lines fit great.

Have to go to a hydraulic shop and get some custom power steering rack lines made.
Sound be fun and pick up a good amount of power with the new turbos and much better convertor...

so ran into a issue with the steering rack lines..... the new turbos are a lot larger and come into contact with the lines... going to have to figure out how i can re due this lines or go with a manual rack. so for now just going to put the new converter in and reinstall the LG for the sake of time......

Red truck was a build Diesel truck short cab, on 4 slicks and 40psi and spray.. it runs low low 10.xx

Black 402 LSx fox body mustang on the motor, full 4 link suspension 2600lb car runs low 10.xx

Green S95 Mustang built 302 with a on3 76mm turbo he had beat the red truck a few days before i raced him. don't know what it runs....

The white ZR1 has a 2 speed power glide trans and trans brake, methanol, 75 shoot and open exhaust.... Think he running 14-16lb on the stock charger.

I slept on the ZR1 bad, he played some staging games on me. but i picked him up at the top of 1st and passed hi, by the 1/8 mile.... he gave up and didn't want to race again after i walked him..
all the races except the ZR1 was on 12lb.
my car runs 140mph all day on 12lbs
against the ZR1 I turned the boost up to 16lbs. haven't ran it at a track at that level but looking back at the date log.. was right at 150mph at the end of the run.

Have no idea what the car is making now but on the last set of heads and cam the car did the best mph of 143 @ 15lbs... that was threw a 4L65e
So its making a good bit more power now I'd say.... pushing threw a 4L80e now
