Difference in SAP front and front bumper extension?

Posted it here cause it seemed fitting. Anywas I really would like a sap front on the goat but I see this other thing that's called a front bumper extension/lower grille kit. What the heck is that? Seems like it's the same damn thing as the SAP front bumper. I'm way confused.

So is there such a thing as a sap bumper, or is the sap bumper, the bumper extension. Sorry it's hard to word that so you guys would understand. In other words, these people that are getting the sap kit dealer installed aren't actually getting a full front bumper replacement? What they are getting is just an extension. Or is there two different products offered to achieve the same look.

And does that bumper extension just go over the stock bumper, if so how does it stay on there?

Sorry for the huge noob q's

This is an extension. Check out this pic. I just took the SAP extension out of the box, and placed it on the car.

The grill are also part of the full SAP package. But, are not included with the front extension. I put them on within two week of owning the car.

Below is what my baby looks like today.

You can order from DMS, and Fred Beans. Both great companies to deal with. I bought mine from Mike @ DMS.

Priorities. I'm sticking with "appearance" mods until the warranty expires, and the credit union is paid. Then, all bets are off.

Yeah the front bumper on the two are the same. You can put the ext on an 04.
They came out with the SAP extension during the 05 model year. It wasn't available in 04.

I think it's incredibly stupid how expensive it is. But since GM stopped production the price shot up. My car came with it and it's grown on me. Makes it unique, i like that about it. Take it off and sell it for some go fast parts if ya don't like it

Question

What are the price ranges we should expect to pay now if we could find just the front bumper sap extension?

Anyone have any links of where we could still find them in stock? I tried to find some of the vendor website names mentioned (DMS, Fred Beany) but couldn't find all their links.

I can't believe if the SAP Front Bumper Extension seems pretty popular some aftermarket doesnt offer it.

Thanks

I found a new in box primered one on ebay this past May, won the auction, and paid $1,000 for it plus $150 for shipping! I couldn't find any anywhere at that time and doubt you'll have any better luck, but who knows? They don't come up on ebay very often either. GM part # 12499608 originally retailed for $370

Well I guess I can finally scratch this one off my wish list.

There is no way I'm willing to pay more than 400.00.

You can buy a brand new OEM bumper for $700-800!

The sap front extension is sweet but not $1000.00 sweet.

man this sucks

you're better off spending just a little more and getting a full on aftermarket front end or Monaro pieces.

There are a few aftermarket repro's of the grilles at least.... No reproduction front extension, side skirts, or rear yet/ if ever

SAP kit

Ok, just got my baby in February, and slowly upgrading her. She's got the RAM air hood, but I've seen the SAP kits and the rear bumper and am IN LOVE. Are these impossible to find now? Ebay has nada, zip, zilch. Do I need to start trolling wreckage yards in vain hopes? I'm happy with what's under the hood because I treat her likes she's an egg, but I want her to be something really special and one of a kind on the exterior. Sassy little redhead!

sigh...search on this one, but in short: no you cannot get them new; you can find used originals on e-bay or here some times (expect to spend $600-$1000); and they now make a repro for about $500 which a few folks have...all require painting unless you get a used in the same color as your car.
