That's a real coup for GM. At that price point, there's no other choice. If fact, World Products is going to have a difficult time convincing people to pay more for their stuff.

Crate Engines

I sure would like to see what GMPP is going to do on the crate engine front . Are there 4.5" cranks out there already , and what about manifold spacers on the tall deck version ?

.150" seems a little thin on the left side of the cylinders if your going to be running 511 cubes in a small block?
He admited that .200" is industry standard, so why would GM leave in between the cylinders at .150". Is less force put on the cylinder walls at certain points or what?

He explains that at max bore .200" is still retained on the thrust side of the bores.

heh I posted this in multimedia, but deleted it after smitty pointed out this post.

It's definately an amazing engine. I personally would probably go with about a 450 cube range if it was an option.

I hope lunati picks this block up and starts to get some stuff out for it. Nice to hear a lot of our LS2 components will bolt right one, save us from having to custom fab an oilpan to make it go in the GTO.

Wow, wow, wow. 500ci boosted friendly app. Man, that's pretty insane possibilities with this block. GM really did their homework with this block. I think it's fantastic all of the LS2 accessories will bolt right up. They took all the best and made improvements and combined it in one package.
Home run GM.

Just doing some quick math, the LS7 is 1.18hp/ci if you do the same math on a 511ci motor, it comes out to be 603hp and that of course is very conservative. 900hp motors are going to be attainable with this block.

From what I have read, they are shooting for 1000hp+ applications...

My auto tech program has a 1000hp chassis dyno, and a 1500hp engine dyno. My spring semester goal: max one or both out.

I thought I read somewhere that the max bore (4.25) is not intended to be boost friendly. And that 0.150" certainly looks thin.

Still, just think a 4.25 x 4.25 = 483ci, 7.9L, NA. Pretty sweet.

I'd be interested to see what rotating assemblies are going to be immediately available for it in March.

Thats what I want to see. I was thinking LS7 hands down for the 69 Camaro, but now I am thinking one of these LSX blocks bored out for NA and spray a 200 shot on top of it.

Oh the days of HORSEPOWER have returned!!That 0.150 wall thickness is between the bores,so it should be fine unless you get REAL crazy with the nitrous/boost.But a turbo would probably be fine.I wouldn't max out the bore anyway.Max stroke on the 4.000 bore might be really cool,The velocity of the intake charge would be unreal.427 CID.Lot's of torque and would handle LOTS of power adder with no bore flex issues.Just thinkin out loud.Kinda like my 388 CID SBC in the race truck.3.75 stroke,4.060 bore.Just a 383 60 over instead.Talk about grunt though. And a turbo on the long stroke small bore, hmmm.Although all my desktop dyno creations suggest short stroke works better for turbo.A Pontiac 301 theoretically made the best power?Go figure.

I understand that, i was simply stating that .150" looks a little thin- especially if your going with 900+ boosted applications.
