My total was just under 2k, that was for 6 wheels and 6 tires and all the other stuff. I could have saved a bit if I didn't get them from Summit, since I'm in GA i get charged sales tax. If I was going to do it again, I probably would have gone thru Jegs.

That's the best part--NO grinding necessary on front or back! Been there, done that with my f-bodies too!

Just like Chameleon T/A said no grinding the caliper, no bending of any brake lines....nothing. They bolt right on.

damn, that is the direction i wish to go soon. draglites with BFG DR's and skinnies.
is a nice way to remove weight from our cars.
i read an article from a performance magazine (don't remember the name of it) that said per every 1lb of rotating weight you would be removing 6lbs of static weight.
so, stockers are 51lbs a piece x 4 = 204
new setup front: 22lbs each x 2 = 44
new setup rear: 40lbs each x 2 = 80

stock wheel/tire - new setup wheel/tire = 204lbs - 124lbs = 80lbs rotating weight, which would the equivalent of 480lbs static weight removed. you should be improving your et times from .3 -.5 sec just because the change of wheels/tires alone.

Centerline Wheels claim
"Every 1 lb reduction in rotating mass is equivalent to an approximately 8 lb reduction in static weight."

added a pic to the first post showing how much of the caliper can be seen when you turn. The rotor even sticks out ...although you can't see it in that shot.

I had sent Weld Racing an email about how pleased I was about their wheels and included a link to this site..LoL. Just got an email back saying now they have a place to send people who are curious about weld wheels on GTOs. Apparently they have been asked quite a few times.

Thought that was kinda neat. Edelbrock sent me a release form so they can use my testimonial and pics about their shortie headers on my car and now this. Neato

Looks great! I have been considering the same wheels. Just how wide can you go with the fronts before hitting anything? I would go to a 5 inch, but 3.5 is just too small for a daily driver (though I have in the past).

That is a concern I have as well. Having to make a emergency stop on a 3.5" tire is likely going to result in you hitting whatever was in front of you. Having some additional contact area to the pavement would be great.

I do have a pair of 15x5 Welds on another car... I guess I should see if they can be made to work on the 05. I never thought they would because of the bigger brakes so it was never considered. But this has me thinking....

Anybody remember the Weld Draglite XP? They had the right backspacing we need for the newer cars, and they came in 16 inch Dia also. Seems Weld discontinued them. Great, just when we could use them!

I remember the Weld XP's but they were heavier and did not look quite as good as the originals... Just my .02 though!

I agree they didn't look quite as good. They were heavier because they were more of a "street" wheel, I suppose. Every set of Welds I ever had would flex and "creak" when turning. I'll bet the XPs didn't do that.

Anyone know if a 15x4" rim would fit on the front? I am looking at some similar rims but the smallest front wheel is a 15x4 with the same back spacing as these in 15x3.5

I honestly have no clue. I might just stick out more. Maybe they will let you do a test fit, if they are local.

Our numbers are growing everyday...resistance is futile!

Kinda cool when you have people come out of a store to look at the car saying, "Wow...never seen a new GTO with skinnies and fats on it. It looks mean."

I got different results... with the Holeshot drag Rims

Stock Chromed w/Tire .............56x2=112
Holeshots 15x9w/Tire................44x2=88
Haven't weighed the fronts yet ----------

Only a 24 pound diffence plus rotating mass...

Your not gonna pick up 3 to 5 tenths though...... I'm hoping for 1 to 1 1/2 ..welll maybe praying...2 would be better though

If we use that theory and if I DID it right with my results from weighing the backs and using what freedom got that would be 6x68pounds=408 Static weight...Is that right???

Definitely on my list!

It always surprises me how many threads there are on 18,19, and 20 inch rims!....truly boggles my mind!

Just throw some skinnies in the front and some wide one's in the back and your done!

Saw your car at the Silver Dollar today. Love the weld wheels. Looks tough! How'd you run? I didn't stay because it took all day to make one pass due to cars continuing to break.
