For anyone contemplating doing this I just want to say it is a fairly simple conversion....actually, the hardest part is making sure the bumper cover cutouts are even and symmetrical...I purchased the Borla system from PFYC and it was all there...including the inserts...the mufflers have Borla stamped into them along with a Borla sticker if you care to use it...I didnt paint the inserts since i have a PBM and didnt want issues with possible flaking from any heat....the system fit very nicely...no issue with the hanger at the driveshaft at all....about half inch clearance...the car is a stock A4....i loved the sound of the factory system and this was a way to get the dual outlet look...i was apprehensive about possibly not liking the new sound....it is different...nice burble at idle (maybe not quite as loud as factory)....a really nice rumble about 60 cruising....and much louder when you get on it....i guess "sound" is subjective...i will run the system and let it season...i'm thinking it will get louder with some age....all in all, its pretty much what i expected....here are a coupe of pics....

That is sharp looking.... well done.

I have the Borla quad tips on my GTP, and love the look. I wish Borla offered a quad-tip bolt-on '05 GTO catback, but no, only the gawd-awful 5" round tips.

tips

what i like about this system is i can now try different tips....just unbolt em and maybe try the 3.5 x 5.5 ovals....i'm thinking the ovals are the only alternative to fill up the insert space....

sound

thanks.....I love the factory sound also....i may yet go back to it....anyway, the new sound is a little "deeper"....not quite as loud at idle....louder everywhere else....i'm gonna run this setup for a year to "age" it....then i will decide....if i go back to factory mufflers all i have to do is bolt up the old system without the tailpipes and use 75% of the new Borla tailpipes with a new section spliced in to mate with the old muffler takeoff...thats my plan for now...

man, that looks sweet!! How did you cut the bumper?? Did it come with some kind of instructions??

very interested in doing the samething down the road

bumper cuts

the instructions for cutting the bumper and a template are on the PFYC website....the template is for the right side only....just print a mirror image of it for the left....use a "dremel tool".....cut it smaller than you need at first....and remember....measure, measure, measure....before you cut...

the left side is basically just cutting out the factory turned in flange...

you could always take it to a body shop to get the cuts done...

I actually have this exhaust that I had to convert to 05-06 connectors since i have the APS TT system. I love this system but i think i am going to bump it up to a 3 inch catback. Pics attatched. If someone is looking for this i am selling it soon. Any exhaust shop can easily weld back the pipes to fit an 04. Tips can be cleaned to look brand new but havent for the winter.
