Well I was thinking it was going to be about 500 left so I was a little off.... but 721 is not all that many over 2000+ dealers, then as people have stated some have a bunch and most a few or none.
They are typically still there for a reason also... higher miles / damage / dealer that wants to hold on for that one person that will walk in a buy for the price they want / or it has "dealer mods" that they want too much for or they don't want.
I bought mine 2 months ago on May 3. (Courtesy Pontiac-B'ham, AL) They had 3 left at the dealership I was at. A Black and a Spice Red, both with 4AT, 18s and less than 20 miles on them. The Torrid Red one was the only one with the 6MT left. It had 243 miles on it and a small dingy in the front driverside fender.
I got the Torrid Red anyway, FTW!!!
The black one sold about a week after mine and the spice red hung out there until about 3 weeks ago. Now they are out of them.
I bought mine on Saturday and we had a hard time finding the one optioned the way we wanted it. I started looking myself with the Pontiac Search feature but could find a 6-speed anywhere. I had a line on one in Pensacola but they sold it out from under me. My shop is next door to a Pontiac Dealership so I walked over there and with in 5 minutes they found a QSM/Red Hot M6 on 18"s in Nashville. Since I was trading my TBSS it was much easier to just buy it from the them and let them do a dealer trade on it. With that they lose the hold back money so I didn't get $27K smoking deal I keep hearing about but at least I got exactly the car I wanted. The wife is happy which mean I'm happy.
Star Pontiac had 5 left 4 M6, 1 A4. All came with 18 inch wheels and all now have 17"..WTF.
The dealer has a discount for the 'downgrade' to 17's but what did they do with 5 sets of 18 inch wheels.

I just got mine no more than a month ago and the dealer i went to had all autos on thier lots...so they contacted other dealers and tracked down an torrid red m6 in wisconsin ( i live in illinois) so they transfered the car down here and i picked it up...im sure if u look hard enough u can still find one...but as everyone is saying....the selection is getting smaller and smaller

The first one I was looking at had the same deal. I bet they put them on other GTOs that they sold that had 17s and the customer wanted 18. Probably they wanted a certain color combo that only have 17s.

Actually they had all 18's in stock and put the 17's on to sell them.
It seems like there are a lot still in the SF Bay Area (must be the $4.00/gallon gas prices) as of a few days ago, but only 1/3 of those were 6MTs, and even less had 18" wheels.
Some day we all will look back with fond memories to the "good old days" when the wild goat's no longer run in herds across our plans... What a magnificent sight!
GM still has cars because the discount sucks...all the 06s I have seen new are over 27K.....The cars should be what ever they can get for them.......

With new GTO's remaining there are really only four different decision points to be made, as far as the car itself. (1) Color; (2) Transmission; (3) Interior color; (4) 17's or 18's.
From what I have seen, the wheels are easily swapped out and are used as a deal-maker. Good friend of mine on these boards liked everything about one he came across except he wanted 18's. Dealer swapped over to 18's to make it work. (Yes, he signed).
Likewise when I was looking, I found one I wanted but it had 18's and I wanted 17's (17's have a different ride or at least that was my perception). Dealer said no problem we can work this deal and the car rolls out with 17's for ya.
Pat Clark (Las Vegas) back in 07/06 where I got my BOM. Most of these were BOM/M6/18" if I remember correctly. Not a great picture, but I'll contribute
Dang you are right on that point, TPR !! What a beautiful sight!
The days of having a photo like this where you see a row or several rows of brand spanin' new GTO's all lined up, is almost entirely gone now. May not come around for quite a while, if ever, again.
Perhaps one of our moderators could create a sticky thread of shots like this one, from when these cars were new, untitled, and just waiting to go home.
Hopefully that would be for all three years of GTO, each of which I feel provided an important contribution to the American High Performance car legacy.
