BMR Skid Plate

I was thinking about buying one of these. Is it worth the money?

is it worth the money (I have one)? For quality, fit and finish of a product... yes. Also too if you want to save weight and make oil changes easier on your own (easier to hold up with one hand). But if you don't care about weight savings or looks under your car, then no.

But it is a high quality product.

My BMR skid plate has a bunch of hole all over it. I bought it from another member here? Was the BMR ever sold with holes cut in them? Sorry for the hijack OP. Thanks. Tommy

I'm having a hard time following your question, but they are different because they are two different companies making them. And the SLP one has less material than the BMR to make it lighter.

The SLP was also desgined that way so that an oil change could be done without taking off the skid plate, but you are right, the BMR will offer better protection since it is fully closing off access to the oil pan.

I hope that helps....

Thanks for the opinions guys. After looking at the photos of the BMR and the SLP, the BMR looks a lot better. I think I'll be buying the BMR plate.

Stay stock, after the rock incident an aftermarket one would have destroyed lisa's 06. The stock plate did its job and protected the engine buy absorbing the blunt of the rock. The plate, engine cradle had to be replaced along with the oilpan. Still did $4k damage.

+1 The Holden one is a great product as well. And you get to pay more for the shipping than the actual product. But Sean @ HunterHolden is a real cool guy. This could be an option too.

If you do get the BMR, slotting the rear mounting holes makes it even easier to change oil, just remove the front bolts and loosen the rear.

BMR looks just like the holden, except it has BMR engraved into it.

I'm a bit confused here, if the skid plate did its job, then why did everything the skid plate protects still needed to be replaced?

But thats as far as they are equal. The BMR plate is thicker than the Holden one and could only imagine better protect.

The BMR isn't thicker its the same thickness, it just comes up a slight bit more in front where the BMR logo is etched into it.

Holden plate carries a GM part number, I could only imagine GM knows something about what they're putting on a vehicle

I've seen the two and the BMR is thicker than the holden one. not by much, but it is.

Bmr

BMR is lighter than OEM...aluminum vs steel....im sure it wont protect as well as OEM but it will do a good job on most road debris...taking a slight chance IMO....i bought one anyway....

I've seen them next to each other as well and I couldn't really tell a difference in thickness, but if there is there is.
