Drag Rims and Tires

Wondering if anyone here has drilled and screwed in their drag wheels and tires?

I just got finished drilling a set of old rims and am waiting for them to come back from paint. Wanted to see if anyone has done this and what effect it has had on your 60' and ET's.

I was looking thru some threads a couple weeks ago and saw some pictures of wheels/tires that were drilled and screwed so there are definitely some guys doing it. Do you think your spinning your tires on the rims? Edit: I guess that's a dumb question since you just screwed them to the rims LOL.

Yep, everytime I launch whether N/A or N2O, the difference is the magnitude of the movement.

Me to. I'm selling my Bogarts and using Welds though. The weight difference is very little and I hate the thought of "screwing" up a good set of rims. HA HA HA....! I found my tires spinning in the rim every run.

My rims were also spinning in the tire. I just got 15" welds and am thinking about screwing them once i start racing this year. I was spinning the stock 17" rim a few inches each run inside the mt et street bias plys.

Basically, it is attaching the drag tires to the rims in order to minimize the spin of the tire on the rim.

This is the best process I could find on the net, check it out:

This should be avoided and all costs....You always stand a chance of getting a slow leak usually silicone can take care of it however. I'm not saying you will ALWAYS have slow leak issues,But just know its very possble.

Before doing it mark your tire and rim at the track and asses to see how bad it might be.

Well, getting ready for the rebuilt block, I finally got my rims back from paint and balancing. They are 16x8 camaro wheels with tube and screws and I reused my 27/10.5/16 ET Streets.

Hopefully, screwing them in will keep from spinning them on the rim.

I'll be putting screws in my Weld Pro Stars before I race this year... I can only imagine how much I was losing last year from spinning the wheels in the tires....

I screwed mine also but it was so it would not twist the tube. Do not know how much it picked up in 60 from it though.

I have em screwed on one of my set of rims,Your not gonna see to much if anything, I think its more of a saftey issue, more then anything. You may want to think about doing it. Its not impossible to NOT have leakage(very slow air leaks) ,but a real PITA to get the silicone around the screws to seat perfectly for every tire change, If you change em alot throughout the year like me....LOL
To clarify I'm referring to a Radial Tire not bias that has a tube. G/L

What did it help? Your 60ft or the tire spinning on the rim?

Yep, I need to do that to mine. I'm going to try the screws on the inside first.
