Aux Input on your Radio``

I recently did the "Aux input my way" on my radio and just sold another radio that I did for another forum member. After I sold the radio I started to get people asking me to modify there radio so I figured that I would put this out on the board.

I can modify your radio. Here's the deal that I'm going to offer everybody. You must ship your radio to me at zip code 60163 with return postage included. I will NOT need your security code. You will need to tell me if you want option A or option C. I will modify your radio and return it back to you in 2-3 days. I'm asking for $45 for option A.

Option A include a 3-4ft cord with the head phone jack attached to the end so you can mount the jack some where in your console. The cord coming out of option A fits in a hole that is already in the radio cage no drilling will be required other than putting a hole where you want the jack.

Option C now available for $50. which includes the jack mounted to the lower right mounting hole. See attached picture.

I just want to say that I did not come up with this mod but see a need that some people can't do it by them self so I will try to help other board members. Thank you to Dede and Damage Inc for the write ups on how to do this.

Also please include your LS1gto username in the box. Remember to remove all CD's before shipping.

The post where the information on the input is attached,

your link doesn't work, but other than that your service sounds great. I may contact you about this sometime, probably over the summer.

Three questions: Is audio quality going to be the same as if you were listening to a CD? How is it used? By that I mean, do you choose the CD function, need to insert a blank CD, etc? And lastly, are there some members on this board who could substatiate your work? We have had a lot of bad sellers/vendors recently so it would be nice to get some feedback from some people you've done this for. Thanks!

Question #1 Same quality as a CD

Question #2 No Blank CD required once you put the a jack in to the input on the radio it over rides what ever the radio is set to. This bypasses the radio or CD input with your AUX input. If you have a it on CD mode your CD will still be spinning and playing but not comming out of your speakers. Once you unplug your input device your radio or CD will play as normal.

Question #3 I've only done this for one other board member right now and I'm shipping his radio out today. There is another board member that is supposed to be mailing his radio to me today. I'll ask the people that I do this mod for to post there feed back here.

I'm not trying to screw anybody here like I said before I just seen a need and am willing to help some other board members out.

The blue tooth will work only when the Aux input is not being used. When it is being used it won't work. There is a fix for that but I'm not offering it.

if i still had the stocker... this would be a perfect option: add door speakers, sub and amp x2 (1 for doors and 1 for sub) you have a completely stock looking stereo that will explode your head!

He did mine after he did his. I drove down there on a cold winter night. He does a great job and stands by his work. I have another radio that I have and I am thinking about doing it option a as I already have option b.

Thanks Again Bohnman.

I'm totally in for Option A when my car gets out of the shop. What's the turn around time? I assume the cord on Option A is plenty long enough to make it into the console?

I'd be in for it. I have the Phreddy kit, but I don't know when I'll have time to put it in. I live in Woodridge, so I could always just drop off the radio sometime when I don't need it for a couple days. I could just sell the Phreddy kit then

Option A the cord is plenty long enough I'm leaving about 4-5 feet.

For everybody locally dropping it off is cool with me I can turn it around in probably 2 days.

I am kind of a do-it-youself person and could do this kind of work on my own. Is there a way that you could explain how it was done or point me in the direction to find out. I love the idea and always wanted that. I dont want to steal your work or stop people from buying from you, though. But I can imagine how somebody else wont want to do it. Just a thought! Thanks!

Hey man,
I'm one of the guys who bugged you to do it for them
I still want to get it done when I get back from my "vacation"

I dont understand where people are talking about mounting the input with the 4-5 feet of cord. Where are people placing it when they go with option A?

Chris

I plan on mounting the jack by the door lock button so I can put my ipod in the cupholder mount and keep the cords out of the way. By the time you route the wire, you can easily eat up 3+ feet

I've got a question for ya. I like the idea here, but I'd like to have a switch ran inline somewhere. So basically I hit the button, the signal from the mp3 player is cut and the radio plays what it would normally. I've seen a kit that has the button and everything that I'm talking about, but you have to use a blank cd with it, which I don't like. If I purchase said kit, can you install it so that I don't have to use the blank cd method? Thanks!

You want my Phreddy kit? I was going to install it, but I don't have time to do it. It includes the AUX button and you don't need the blank CD

So I can test the radio after I modify it. Everything should be fine but I'd rather test it before I ship it back.
