For those people that dont want drone, and a really loud catback, these are ultimetly the two ways to go. now can i get some opinions from people with experiance with Magnaflow and Bassani. ive pretty much narrowed it down to these two, and i cant decide between them.
pros and cons of each would be greatly apperciated. and then overall which one you like better.
I've owned Magnaflow on my '05, and have owned Bassani on both my old '04 and on my current '05. Bassani sounded great on my '04. Bought my '05 with Stainless Works catted headers and Magnaflow cat-back. Even with the headers the Magnaflow cat-back that I had made the car as quiet as it was when it was stock.
I loved the Bassani sound of my old '04, so I yanked the Magnflow kit off and did Bassani on the '05 and won't look back. The Bassani sounds great with and without headers. I'd only recommend Magnaflow if you plan on going headers w/out cats in the future.. otherwise I think Magnaflow will be too quiet for most.
I love the sound of my Magnaflow cat back, but not so sure I'd buy them again for the lack of customer service/support.
No experience with Basanni on an LS motor, but I loved them on my 98 Cobra.
I had the Magnaflow and it was great in that it was louder than stock..but not offensive. That being said it was also quiet.
I now have the Bassani, and it is the "goldilocks" exhaust in that it is "
just right". Loud enough (with a deep tone) for most people, but not too loud to get unwanted attention.
I have mangnaflow on my car. With just the mufflers, the car is pretty close to stock sounding - nice and quiet with no drone. After the header install, the car got considerably louder (especially under wide open throttle) with only slight drone. I would not want my car any louder now with the current set up. But I like the stealty aspect.

Very well put by Brandon. Have the Bassani here and have never regretted the choice.
Any significant sound difference in a 05 Bassani with Kooks Catted mids if its on a 04? Not the 04 Bassani but a complete 05, on an 04. (Yes, I need to cut the bumper)
Thanks for your comment Brandon, it really helped me understand that thats exactly what i need. Something loud when on it, but no drone and i wont get unwanted attention. im leaning towards the Bassani cat-back with Kooks LT headers, whatelse could i add to that combo that would help the sound and flow?
I'm running 6" round magnaflows with an h-pipe and it's nice and deep with a sweet growl when you open it up. I've heard bassani in person and it's just too "exotic" for me....sounds like a Lamborghini/Maserati...but if that's what you're going for, then it's a good system.

Magna's all the way. I'm installing JBA headers in the next week or two and i hope this just adds to the pure sex sound of the Magnaflows.
Also i must say, when people say that the Magnaflows get louder over time, it's true. I have had mine for about 4 months now and there quite a bit louder now then when first installed.
I have the 14616 magnapaks in the axleback position, SF H-pipe, and catless Lt's and the sound is badass. Go listen to some magnaflow catback/LT sound clips and just imagine a deeper less raspy sound.
Quiet and tame when ur just cruising around "no drone" but when u stick ur foot in it the car really screams.
I also have a mild cam and that does give it a little more character but for a DD its great. I highly recommend the 6" magnapacks.
maybe I will get some time tomorrow and I will make a video...

You will need the '05/'06 style header mid-pipes in order to use the '05/'06 style Bassani cat-back. My friend installed the LS2 style rear bumper and LS2 style Bassani cat-back after I sold him my '04 GTO. The cars didn't sound any different because of the fact that after the LS2 mid-pipes were put on in order to do this the full exhaust system was now identical.
What I be able to tell a big difference if I went with Magnaflow or Bassani on a car with everything else stock? I am strongly considering getting an exhaust and have looked into both Magnaflow and Bassani but not sure if I will be happy unless I get headers, which I don't plan on doing.
As far as a difference in sound, yes you'll hear a difference with Magnaflow or Bassani. Magnaflow probably won't be but a touch louder than stock, but will give you a different tone. Bassani will give you a little louder sound than Magnaflow, as well as a different sound than both the stock setup and Magnaflow.
You won't really notice a power increase though if that's what you're looking for. You'll need headers for that. But if headers aren't in your budget or you don't want them for whatever reason and you want your exhaust to be a bit louder then you may want to consider a Loudmouth or something along those lines.
When my car was stock, i did this, it was very inexpensve and sounded awesome. Order some Dynomax race bullets from jegs or summit. Have them put in place of your stock mufflers.
If u can, have ur resonator replaced with an H-pipe.
this sounded badass, and was inexpensive. Trust me.

Nope not looking for extra power, just looking for a more aggressive sound but nothing too loud as it's a DD. Right now headers are out of my budget since headers + install + tune = $2k+ and I can't fork out that type of $$$. I have read the Loudmouth's live up to their name, might be too loud for me.

Have any sound clips?
i am sorry, i dont. but i believe u can find some on youtube and other car-video sites. search "GTO race bullets" and combos like that. it wasnt crazy loud, it was bassy, and it sounds good. I think buying the 2 bullets and having them installed was under $200 total
If you're interested in hearing some Bassani clips here are 3 clips of some cars that I found that I believe don't have headers or any other exhaust mods other than the cat-back:
I say JBA but I need new clips of my car to prove it! BEST tone not a single bad spot in the whole rpm range but still tame enough at idle and low rpm cruising
