I might just go there and play around a bit. Don't care if I can or not.

Exclamation

Wow...

Frank "the shark" Fredericci from Providence... Damn...

Raced there many times. My old '64 Chevy II, the '74 K/SA Nova and even the big block Q/SA Impala... I was also at the "Reopen Connecticut International Raceway" meeting back in 1983.

I've even got a few trophies from class wins back then. Full of attic dust but they are still around...

Damn....

Ed

I believe the Mopar is Don Robachaud from Warwick...

Omg, omg, omg, I got goose bumps looking at those pics!!!!! That was like a second home for us on weekends. I could close my eyes and see every inch of that track. I've been down that 1/4 mile so many times too. And those "professional" racers were like a main stay at CT Dragway. I can hear those LOUD commercials on the
radio, with the deep voiced announcer screaming some thing like; "SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, JUMPING JIM IN HIS FLAME THROWING THUNDER CAR", blah, blah, blah........, lol, lol.

As Nic mentioned, we went there at our first annual Moodus meet and is now owned and used by Consumer Reports. They put on a couple of demonstrations for us down one of the straightaways. And did some water slides to show how good or bad the tires griped. I think that's what they were showing. I have a vid of it if anyone is interested. I wouldn't mind going back there this year.

Anyway, those were some good memories that will stay with me till I'm GONE!! (pun intended, lol)

Thanks for posting them up and for the link!!!!

Thanks for posting the pics. It really brings back memories of the times I spent there from 63-67.

Here's the video I made back in 2005 at the first annual Moodus Meet. Nic set up a tour of the old CT Dragway that's now Consumer Reports testing facility. There was some secret stuff going on too, plus the cars they were testing were some pretty exotic stuff. Unfortunately they just tested some regular car when we were there. They were testing the tires, I believe.

I found this vid with-in another vid I made of that day. So when I extracted the images the sound didn't come with it for some reason. So I just left it silent, hum something if you want sound, lol, lol, sorry.

Man, I remember that day. It was COLD! Raw November-like weather. The two car runs were with traction control on and off.

WOW, thanks for the walk down memory lane! Ran that track for a lot of runs and years. Remember the Pro Stock Car out of West Haven, Dodge product, that rolled over at the end of the track on his run. I can't remember the owners name for the life of me. But I remember the accident and the car.

Wow.. old thread back from the dead.....

I used to race my M/C at CT Dragway back then... and also at Dover, National, West Hampton and of course the still surviving Atco.
I still have a CT Dragway 1973 class winner trophy sitting on the shelf along with my NHRA / AMDRA sportsmen license. LOL

The last time I was at that track.. then & now a Consumer Reports test facility.. was back in 1993. 15 hours of high speed defensive / evasive driving down the old 1/4 mile and around the C/R road course.

More old school photos from various tracks can be seen at this site.
