Gas pedal fell off - now in safety mode

Hey guys... my gas pedal came unmounted from the firewall a couple days ago while i was driving, which was weird in itself but when i remounted it and continued driving, safety mode (reduced performance) clicked on. I checked the wire hardness going into the gas, and checked the mount and it all seems fine. It goes into safety mode about 80-90% of the time. It seems to be mounted right and works fine, but for some reason the car still thinks its broken? or am i missing something. any help would be beautiful. thanks!

Someone help the guy out. I just searched "gas pedal" thread titles, and came up with several others that had the same issue, but with no solution. Anyone have the thread that shows the solution to this? Do you have to order a brand new gas pedal assembly from the dealer? Thanks.

...and the pedal assembly from GM is $236.34 (92183442)

This is a known issue with the 05's (not the pedal falling off, the position sensor/safety mode issue). Took the dealer two months to replace the part when it happened to me in March 05 after I got the car in February 05.
You should be able to get this fixed under warranty as I think there was a bulletin on this.

If it comes back on, it is simple to just disassemble and clean the sensor. There are a couple of posts here on it. I know I posted something a while back about it as well.

Here's a pic of a bad pedal sensor, but I would suggest taking it to the dealer. They'll fix it under the TSB. I can't seem to find which one, but the dealer should be able to pull it right up.
