2nd Annual New Age GTO SHOWDOWN @ Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, Maryland ~ October 16th & 17th 2009
Just like last year my friends have a private track rental for their Buick club on October 16th & 17th @ Cecil County dragway in Maryland and have invited all of us new age GTO’s owners to come and have our OWN race on Friday & Saturday. Buick’s and GTO’s will not be competing against each other. We will each be running our own event.
On Friday we will have an open test & tune all day 9am-4pm with an option to run in a gamblers race for an extra fee. We will be able to make as many passes as we want since it will only be us GTO’s and the Buick guys… and a few 7 & 6 seconds car testing for the shakedown @ E-town
On Saturday we will have 3 race classes
New Aged GTO Quick 8 ~ Sponsored by Kaltech Tuning & Performance
The fastest 8 GTO’s (those who don’t make the Q8 can still compete in either the auto or manual class)
Must be 2004 – 2006 Pontiac GTO
Must be LSX powered
Must be stock style Chassis no tube or fully backhalfed “Mini tubbed allowed”
Solid Rear or IRS allowed
No limits on cubic inches or power adder’s RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG
Any Transmission allowed
No minimum weight
Run off a pro .500 tree
Elimtions will be run in qualifying order 1vs8 2vs7 3vs6 4vs5

Bracket style drag racing, the winner & runner-up of GTO auto class will race the GTO manual class winner & runner-up for bragging rights and a little something extra.

I have this event circled on my calendar. Sounds like a great time. Hopefully it won't conflict with the 2009 LSX Shootout (assuming they are having it this year?) Haven't seen anything on it yet.

Bob it would be nice to have a 10.xx bump for the quick 8 last year it was an 11.6 it there seems that a bunch of the racers from last years race made there cars faster already this year and i think they are all coming again this year

I will be joining this next year and subsequent if this is going to truly be an annual thing. I cannot wait to get out to Delaware and enjoy the 0.2-0.4 that the DA's give out there compared to this shithole.....
Only "problem" is that I will need a cage. Byron is lenient around here with that stuff but I have already been to Cecil county a few times (just last week consequently) and know they will give me the boot probably....
