Power Seat Won't Move Forward or Back

I tried doing a search for this and found nothing. If there's another thread that addresses this please let me know.

My passenger seat got moved all the way up the other night and now it won't move back. Either by the top button or the bottom button. What's weird is you can still here a "CLICK" when you press either button so I know some sort of connection is being made somewhere, but no movement at all. Not even a slight hesitation or anything. Just CLICK and nothing. I tried getting into it and pushing the seat back why pressing the button and it didn't budge. Any ideas guys?

Thanks!
-Chris-

Is it just forward and back or does the tilt levers not work either?

It is a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to try this :

A few people have had luck with pulling the fuse for the seats and putting it back in, basically a "reset".

The conclusion from it is the seats have a "memory" position to go back to where they were set, and it got confused and lost it's place somehow.

Also try moving the seat back, (like you do when you want someone to get into the back) forward then back into the "locked" position. The seats know (or should know) when they are in the forward or normal position, since there is only one button at the top to move foreword and back.

Then try to move the seat again.

Other then those, there is likely to have a problem with the motor itself or a switch is broke, etc.

I popped to fuse box in the engine bay and nothing corresponded to power seats. There was a fuse for almost everything else except the power seats. I think what I might do is pull the battery cables off, let that reset the system and go from there.

The seat moves in every other direction except forward and back. Weird.

yeah. just pull the batt cable for a minute or two and you should be in business. Still don't know exactly what caused it in the first place. Just a comp glitch I guess. Nothing's perfect!

I just had this exact same problem.

Pulled the fuse for a few and it works again.

Yes. Passenger seat forward and back did not work. Tilt for that seat, and everything for the drivers seat worked.

Resurrecting an old thread from the dead. This exact thing happened to me tonight while "reclining" the chair back. I'll give the fuse option a shot in the morning before I go to work. Now I look forward to waking up early to pull fuses off my car. How fun!

Happened to me as well a few weeks ago. Seat was moved all the way forward and froze. Removed the fuse, and it worked fine.

The fuse fully fixed it. It was the stupidest thing I have ever had happen on one of my cars. Lol, try the fuse first peoples. It looks large and metallic, it's not a colored fuse.

i had this happen to my seat when i was in warrenty and the dealer told me the only fix for that was to replace the seat frame. which was about a 1200 part and i waited over 2 years for it to be shipped in.

Damn that's crazy! I know I have to buy the other covers on both seats. When people get in the back, someone always kicks it and now I have strap lock ties holding them to the side of the seat.

I had the same problem but didn't find this thread until after I removed the switch assembly and controller module from the passenger seat, took it all apart, put it back together and has worked flawlessly since.

I am re-bumping this thread because I had this issue today....came home pulled the battery out for a good 30min, reconnected it and tried the seat and it moved maybe a total of a 1in forward and backwards and thats it The bottom portion of the seat works fine its just the horizontal movement. you think its the motor? I am no longer under warrenty does anyone have suggestions? As always I appreciate the input

Pull the fuse for the seat for a minute or so, then see if it moves. That's what solved it for me!

I had a similar issue, although mine was the seat tilt. It would work intermittently. I finally narrowed it down to the seat release lock/unlock on the side of the seat. If it wasn't pushed all the way down in the "lock" position, the seat wouldn't tilt.

Worth a shot.
