which ones the resonator, the big one right where it bolts up? Ive heard they sound good with it off but i wouldnt want it to be too annoying in the car. Im sure ill know here in a couple days my catbacks on it way.
My understanding on the Bassani is that the one towards the front of the car is the muffler, and the two rears are the resonators.
I've never wanted to change mine, it's great now (sounds quiet inside the car, but thats because of how well insulated the car is compared to , say, my Trans Am which is loud in and out). When people hear it drive by or when I hear it, it's much louder than I expected.
When I'm ready for it to be louder I'm getting headers...wayyyyyy down the road
But to the original question, I know people have done it because it's been discussed on here, there might be vids.

Well I mycar is H/C and has no cats, I love the tone but Its just to quiet for me now. It would be cool if I could have the X-pipe bolt in with clamps and the same for the resonator. That would be the best of both worlds I think.
Here is a vid of it now, but normal driving it is a bit on the quiet side
i replaced it with an H-pipe. I perfer the H-pipe sound over the X. Sounds like a V8 now instead of a V6, imo. It makes a nice rumbley roar as you go up the rpm's instead of the exotic "voom voom" sound with of the x-muffler. It's a bit louder too but not as loud as I was expecting inside the cabin. But now you can actually hear the exhaust now from 2.5k up instead of from 4.5k up with the x-muffler.
Down side, a little drone from 1.5-1.8k rpm when accelerating in 6th. The 'stock' bassani system has this too, but it got louder and more noticeable when i put in the h-pipe.
What I haven't tried but am interested in hearing is leaving in the x-muffler and removing the resonators. Has anyone tried this?
I thought the Bassani catback system has the two mufflers at the end with the 4" tips and the x pipe is built into the case which is connected at the cats.

any vids?? What all mods do you have done to your car?
To the OP:
I have this exact set up. Bassani cat back, X-muffler has been replaced with a Magnaflow X-pipe. I'll have to get some better clips now that the car is cammed. For now, here's a sound clip. (It's actually a video but the car is far a way.)
The bassani has 3 mufflers. The center mount one is a muffler with fiberglass packing, and integrated, perforated X-pipe. The two out back are straight through "race mufflers"..basically bullets with packing around the sides. Similar to Kooks Afterburners, Magnapacks, or SLP LM II's. Personally I think the center mount muffler is what gives Bassani it's great deep tone. Otherwise you just have an LMII without it.
Also keep in mind with the Bassani that it is like Magnaflow and takes a while to burn in. It will be louder 1-2 months after you install it.

Sounds much better with the bassani res removed and an x-pipe welded in.
It sounds much meaner!! Hows the interior noise now? And thanks for the great vids!

Thanks and welcome. It sounds great, not alot of drone when driving down the road. If you have the windows down at 60-70 its a little louder, but mostly tame till your at WOT.
Thanks for the vid bro and the car sounded pretty mean
Thanks and I'm hoping to get a better "video" soon. I do get some drone around 1500rpm now. (With the Bassani X, I didn't get it near as bad, just a little tone change.) I'm learning to live with it by avoiding that rpm window.
What is everyone swapping the Bassani X-pipe out for? I'm using a Magnaflow cut down to length. Since the Magnaflow x uses the factory flange, the setup I have is completely reversible; I can swap the x-pipes with just a few bolts and two clamps.
