Well Rossi is known to do a little power sliding into corners too, but he'll just do this to Haga......

Haga is going down, step aside for Ben. TEXANS for the win

this year is going to be an epic battle all year long with rossi and lorenzo as long as lorenzo can keep it on two wheels.

Rossi is the greatest of all time. He makes it exciting. Haga's great, but Ben Spies is showing him what's up in his first season. No matter, this is a great year for MotoGP and World Superbike. Best racing around.

wsbk is a better series this year. you should also be sure to watch some British and Irish road racing, now that is some insane racing there.

http://www.shiftkontrol.com/ not all is up to date but you can still get some great racing from this site that you would otherwise be unaware of.

i would love to have an invite to racing-underground.

don't forget, if you have HD tv, HDTV will be showing the IOMTT this month every monday. last night they showed the first two days of practice and those guys are out of their minds. a 34 mile lap completed in nearly 17 minutes with an average speed of 130 mph.

But since they switched to 800s, arent they going around the tracks a tad faster?

yes they are, in fact Pedrosa recently set a new top speed record, this is over that of the 9xxcc engines that they previously ran.

these are prototype one off bikes (so to speak) so they get all of the new advanced technological goodies.

and the new 600cc class that will replace the 250 2 strokes will also be pushing the 180 mph mark if i had to guess their projected top speeds on the long circuits.

Well I didn't mean top speed but I meant track time wise since they have a smaller engine and more nimble now because of that....I know they were "trying" to slow the guys down because they were going too fast but it doesn't seem it worked huh?

you mean time as in lap times? i haven't compared the two and doubt that it would drop more than 1 second and thats really stretching it there. hell, WSBK and AMA are really no more than 2-4 seconds down on the MGP guys on the same tracks they race together.

here are the record times for sachsenring, this is the venue for this weekends race.

Circuit records:

MotoGP 1'23.082 – D. Pedrosa (SPA), ’07, Honda
250cc 1'24.762 – M. Kallio (FIN), ’07, KTM
125cc 1'26.909 – G. Talmacsi (HUN), ’07, Aprilia

so as you can see, even the 125 and 250 times are very close to the MGP times.

i know, i'm nerding out a bit but,

These times are for Jerez circuit in Spain

2006 results on 990cc engine, loris capirossi 1.41.248
http://resources.motogp.com/files/re...+lap+rider.pdf

2009 results on 800cc engine Valentino Rossi 139.818
http://resources.motogp.com/files/re...stLapRider.pdf

so the times are relatively close in simple terms but in racing terms, they are miles apart.

so yes, with the 800cc engines, the lap times as well as the top speed have both increase significantly.

I knew they were faster all around because the smaller the bike, the more nimble it is. Like the GSXR 750 is faster than most litre bikes, while some litre bike are also slower than some 600s around the track.

the rider being the biggest factor in the 1k vs. 600.

my 600 is faster than most bigger bikes around the tracks. i love busa' to show up for trackdays.

don't get me started please.

hey, there are plenty of guys that ride them at trackdays. we've even had a TURBO gixxer 1k at a trackday that thing was crazy exiting turns man.

BTW, i work for http://www.lstd.com/html/index2.html

as an instructor and i also race with http://www.cmraracing.com/ in the mini endurance series.

so now i am interested in getting the car onto the road courses for a little 4 wheeled fun on the tracks. i'm too scared to haul azz down the twistie streets around here in the car. can't afford another ticket and don't want to crash into a tree and total the car out.

i'd just be happy with a dang invite from there. i hate watching network tv races and after watching the mgp races live on the site, i hate watching it on speed. network tv's coverage of a moto gp race just kills the whole race.

BTW, stoner is out for at least the next 3 races so the championship is up to either rossi or lorenzo, i don't think pedrosa will be able to make up enough points to be able to compete this year.

i really hated to see lorenzo crash out, it was boring all race long with no passing action and then melandri being taken out was bull shit! i want that kawi up front as far as possible. kawi needs a great rider on it, maybe spies will take that spot after next year and tear em up on it.

an invite would be excellent and very much appreciated too.

Props going out to LSTD and CMRA. I got my racing license through you guys at Cresson. I have some friends that still race in the CMRA though... Josh Lowry (sp?), Ivy Phillips and a guy that owns House of Cycles in West Monroe, LA.

those guys are down right disgusting. So consistent. Pushed hard enough a good rider can put down fas times, but those guys do it at pace. Its just play time. So consistent. Just natural talent. It makes me smile.

these guys may only sprint race as i've not heard of them, i do the endurance racing!! thanks for the props, we do our best to set the track day standards and i love Cresson but TWS is by far my favorite for the high speeds. and Hallet is my new 2nd favorite track of all..

yes, they are consistent the way we could only dream of being. it's very hard to ride at a full pace for that period of time, if you aren't fit 100% you're in the back of the pack.
