Well, this morning at 10am this car showed up at my warehouse. It was dirty, but not filthy. It had some swirls, but not a ton, it had personality. Oh yeah, she was loaded with personality. This is the kind of car I dream about. Some people dream about Ferrari's and Porsche's...I dream about true American Muscle.
The car in question?
1970 Pontiac GTO JUDGE
First thing to mention, this is a real, numbers matching Palladium Silver GTO Judge. This is not a clone or a rebadged Tempest, it is a true Judge, PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) documented and all that. The car had a frame off restoration 17 years ago. The paint is 17 years old. The windows are about to turn 40, all original glass. The car has upgraded C5 Z06 brakes, Hotchkiss full suspension, a built motor (550+ RWHP) and no power steering or air conditioning. The owner has kept all of the original parts to put it back to numbers matching stock if he so desires, but hell, a car like this is meant to be enjoyed, not doted over in a museum.

I first did my usual wash and wheel routine, then moved her inside to be clayed. The Riccardo Yellow did work! The areas with over spray from a front fascia touch up were cleaned up perfect and the rest of the car just glowed after claying. The paint, even for it's age, was smooth as glass. There were not a ton of swirls, so I decided on 1 pass with Menzerna 203 and a white 3M UK pad. This turned into a white Uber pad after half of the car as I was not happy with how fast the UK pads gummed up. Did I mention it was humid as all hell out today? lol..anyway, I finished the 203 with some 1Z Final Finish glaze. I really am beginning to like this stuff, I should have tried out the 1Z Intensive Paste today, but totally forgot. Then I hit the car with BLITZ. While it was curing I did the tires with VRP and the glass with Adam' glass cleaner and did the interior and leather. I have to add, the owner was doing most of the interior while I did the exterior, so don't think I did a complete interior with leather cleaning while I waited for sealant to cure..lol. After that a layer of Souveran was applied via the FLEX and a black Uber pad. The car was wiped down, sprayed and wiped with Red Mist (my closer!) and rolled out into the blistering Seattle sun!
Here are some pictures, I hope you like it!

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
I love the 1970 Judge Ram Air IV 4 speeds, it must of been quite a privilege to work on such an awesome goat.
BTW...rumor is that the 2011 GTOAA Nats will be in Portland, OR so maybe you can drum up a mega shit ton of detailing work on the "old school" GTO's at that time.

I am the inside sales manager for the nations largest marine pipe, valve, fitting and automation company. We supply the stuff you build critical systems on ships with.
An excellent perk is being able to use my warehouse as a detailing shop on the weekends!
Supernatural, Light Fantastic or 5050, all of them look great on light colors. The Souveran did a great job though. I gave the owner a run down of the 25 different waxes I have and he chose the Souveran..mostly because he heard someone talk about it once.
