The first thing you would have to do is fly to Australia, locate one and steal it....because you certainly would not be able to afford to buy one outright. (This car would probably cost you somewhere around 75k USD) Then you would have to disassemble it, piece by piece, and mail it back to the states, one piece at a time. Good luck with that.
Not a rumor I have seen commercials for it already. They are saying fall of 09.
Also the GM dealer I do business with are saying wait 8-12 months. Holden and GM are going to do something with the G8. They claim they have too much invested in that project to let it drop. (He believes GM will bring it in Rebaged as a chevy. I don’t see how that will work. GM needs a wagon and maybe they are waiting to see how the Cady sells)

Agree with both. It already costs USD $55k and they're only making 120 of them, so they'll probably be selling at a premium to that number. Add in the costs of transport, disassembly, reassembly, and paying the taxes and fees on getting it certified in the US... you'd probably be looking at a $100k wagon. I love it too, but your dream is quite a bit far-fetched.

Yeah, Lutz came out and said they'd sell it as a Chevy Caprice. Then two days later Obama set him straight and he came back and said "sorry, it sucks, but they're being dicks and won't let us sell it." Paraphased, of course.

Wow this is an awesome Idea, I want the HSV Maloo R8....and since it's a ute, it should have less parts then the wagon so mine will be here quicker!!!
Go GM for not making the G8/UTE/or wagon here anymore, glad to see things haven't changed! Even though you say "We Hear what the people want" and people are practically begging for these cars, Go GM For sticking to your guns and saying NO! You can't have cars you want Silly People!!! lol...
If you wanted to import it, you would have to locate one, buy it, then ship it to the States. When it gets here, you will have to find a company that can convert it to DOT standard...good luck with that... (/sarcasm)
Buy a G8 GXP here while you can. Go to Oz and buy a regular Commodore wagon with same color interior as GXP. Strip the motor, tranny and front suspension. Strip the dash and most of the interior. Strip the front clip. Sell extra parts in Oz. Ship shell to USA. Strip needed parts off GXP. Reassemble your wagon with all "Pontiac" parts. Change Vin plate. Have a Pontiac G8 GXPWagon. Do not try this in California, maybe Louisiana. Just Sayin'!

I would have preferred GM to import the wagon as a G8 variant... but then it would have "competed" with the Caddy CTS wagon, 10K price difference plus a V8 instead of a V6.
i was curious as to how to pull this off as well when i emailed holden a month or so ago about their 427 equipped g8 and was told no can do we dont export.......lmao
the next step i was going to take when i get time to deal with it would be to contact lingenfelter and ask them if they have any contacts in this arena since they do ship their reworked cars to various countries around the world with no issues other than one hell of a air freight bill
my last option would be to contact my cousin who spends a lot of time in aussie land since her hubby is from there and still maintains a household there would be to ask her to buy the ride for me then see if i can afford to ship the damn thing here......exchange rates would be rough im betting

The kids here (Cali) do it everyday with those JDM cars so why should it be so hard to do the same with something from Aussieland.
It would be cool if someone did that for SEMA along with the usual showcase of a boat load of audio and multi-media equipment in the back trunk.
