Great lookin' truck though and you can't beat a Cummins. Only negative thing I've heard of the 6.7's is that you cannot idle them for an extended period of time or they start throwing codes because of a clogged DPF (hopefully fixed sooner or later).
I generally visit CumminsForum.com or turbodieselregister.com for any quick info.
Welcome to the world of diesel. Shit gets addicting real quick!

It's a 6.7, not 6.4.

Damnit...I knew I was going to mess that up. As you can tell, I am a newb to the scene.
You bought a Dodge, but at least it's a diesel. Let's hope they build diesels as well as everyone else. Enjoy your cheaper pump fee for the time being and extended mileage.
cummins is a great motor even i dare to say best. good luck with the dpf filter. i've heard nothing but bad things about them. i drive a big truck with one and its already bin replaced twice since 08. if you know someone that can pass that thing for inspection/emissions cut that thing off asap. you'll get a big mpg gain and well as hp/tq
I got it Tuesday. '09 3500 Mega Cab 4X4 6.4L Cummins Turbo Diesel. In keeping with the movie "Cars" theme my kids already have named it Big Red.
Anyone know a good site to get Mopar accessories? The dealership owes me sidesteps. But, I am gonna need some mud flaps and a tonneau cover.
what you need is some bigger smurfing tires. Did someone steal the stockers and leave you with those?

Wow! That thing is almost as big as a Challenger.
Nice truck, sir.

I believe that skyjacker has a nice 9" lift for the 25/3500's. That would make that thing look even sicker.

For clearance when going over rough terrain is why there is a huge gap. But yeah...it is different.

They only hook up to the computer here. Would that tip it off?

I was planning on a TT but now I am looking at fifth wheels. Maybe a used gooseneck to pull the trackloader someday as well.

Aren't they the same platform? And thanks......wanna hook up some chains to our rear ends and have a pull-off?
Bandit, how far away from Pinehurst do you live? That's where I want to retire to [if I get lucky]
Where I am building my house is 30 miles north of there. Great place to go and wait to die. All kidding aside...if you like golf, it is the mecca for it.

Diesels go through emissions where you live?

Only true way to get rid of the DPF problem is to remove it (which I believe is illegal). I think there are a few programmers out there now that can help out or bypass the problem without having to remove the DPF, but if that is true, I would imagine any computer emissions testing would pick up the change from stock form when they plug it in for testing. Only way to see is either try it yourself or ask your emissions person who knows more. Not every truck is having problems though. DPF's are new to 3/4 and oneton trucks, so it will only be a matter of time until there is a fix for the problems they may cause.
Every diesel forum is saying Dodge and Cummins are working to fix this problem, but the only current fix right now is to take it to the dealer and they will do whatever it is that they have to do to temporarily fix it.
Easiest fix.....should've bought a 5.9.
Or cut off the DPF and find an emissions place/mechanic that will pass it no questions asked.

If it is throwing any codes...it will not pass inspection in NC....no matter how good of a mechanic you have in trying to let you slide. The computer that is hooked up to the state will not pass you.
every one is right. you can take it off and get a programmer to fix your cel your great and will pass the plug in test. if you get a real tech that will look for your filter. your screwed. but if you don't have to pass emissions you can almost do anything you want. but i would definitely do it.
Nice truck when I bought the GTO I almost decided to get a cummins over it. I love those trucks. Can be pretty nasty toys when you do the right thing to them. Congrats on the truck.
