Might be posting in the wrong forum but got a question. I have an 04 GTO a4 stock with flowmaster catback. How would I do against my son's 04 cobra vert. He has catback, x-pipe, and cold air kit.
Any thoughts?
Honestly, if your son can drive, he *should* pull cornfields on you. With the listed mods, he's sitting around 420+whp with gobs of power under the curve and weighs just a little more than you. With your listed "mod", you're still sitting at around 290-300whp.

You sure about that? Not to question you or anything. It just doesn't seem realistic even for a car like that to gain so much with those mods. The car comes with what 410 crank stock? So those minute mods pull a car from what 360whp to 420? Somehow im doubting that statement even for the mighty cobra.
But to the op. a stock cobra is a drivers race from what ive seen with an LS2 Goat. So im thinking with the mods listed your son should get the W.

There, fixed for ya.., would be easier that way....

I think they were 390 at the crank stock, but notoriously underrated; they were putting just about all of that down on dynos.

yeah they was underrated. With a few mods the cobras are easily over 400whp... You will get slaughtered... sorry to say, because my 04 gto is stock too... so i know how you feel.

All this talk about cornfields and bus lenths if funny. You never know until you race. However most know the outcome will be brutal until more mods are added to the GOAT.

My 03 that I had had an X-pipe, magnaflows and a JLT CAI and was putting 423RWHP. They respond very well to slight mods and was 389 stock...
Not a drivers race...the OP probably wont stand to well. Plus 03s come with 3.55s so they pull pretty well with that blower.

Not only that, GTOs are nicer cars in general. Only reason I'd take a cobra over a GTO is for the blower whine, but that's easily solvable for a little over 6 grand.

I'm 100% positive. It's a factory forced induction car that was SEVERELY underrated. They usually dyno 370-380+whp and simple mods done to ANY factory FI car will add huge power.

Correct

Again, "420+whp" and this guy does 423 with those same mods. And yes, the 3.55's help the Cobra out for sure!
So OP, race him and let us know how many greyhound buses he pulls
My LS2 M6 with headers/cai was dead even with my room mates 03 cobra with cai/and borla catback. 03/04 cobra's respond very well to slight mods and are the only mustang I would ever own.
throw a cam and small shot on there and then make sure and wave as you drive by.
Unless while he was doing all that engine work, his son had a pulley swap and a tune done on his way home from work. Then the outcome is still going to be "LATER DAD!"

Needless to say, the LS1GTO.com administration keeps me on a tight leash.

If the goat got a 224 cam and a 100shot it would still be a great race vs the pullied cobra. I am sure that would be enough to get the cobra.
