242/248 .624/.624 on a 115 w/ LSL lobes for rear mount turbo

243/247 .624/.624 on a 116 w/ LSL lobes for rear mount turbo

I was going to do front mount twin T70's, but my budget is getting smaller. So I was thinking of putting a T78 in the back for ease of fabrication and keeping more money in my bank account. Motor is an iron block 370 with 9.3:1 compression, comp cams short stroke race hydraulic lifters, billet timing gears, melling oil pump, stock crank, eagle rods, Probe dished pistons, Hellfire rings, ported 243 heads with 921 springs. Car is a 4000lb GTO with 3.46 gears, 26" tall tires, and a TH400 with 4200 stall. I already have that cam new in the box and was wondering how it would work.

You can do a front mount single for damn near the same amount of money as a rear mount.
I'm just about finished with my setup and along the way I have found other parts and ways to design a better (mounting) setup.
I'm even thinking of selling my setup when finished if you're interested. I'd like to build another one.
As far as your Cam, sorry I don't know.

So you think the cam is ok? Greg at FTI designed the converter to stall about 3200 on the motor and around 4200 building boost on the transbrake. Once everything gets put together I can make some passes and figure out if we need to adjust it any.

I say give it a shot. If it doesn't work out, it only takes like 6 hours to change the cam...Nothing a Saturday afternoon cant fix.

My concern is one of the guys at the shop putting my car together said that cam was for when I wanted twin T70's. Now that I want to do a budget rear mount build he says it has to much overlap and I want to use a reverse split cam. I don't think there is anything wrong with the cam and just wanted everyone elses opinion.

ah thats sounds better.
Mine stalls about 2800 on the motor and 3600ish on the brake (which is NEVER used)

Just got off the phone with Comp Cams. They don't like it for a rear mount. They said they could regrind it for $125. Leave the intake the same and put the exhaust at 242 or go to 240 on the exhaust.

Thats a super long answer. here a shitty short one. Its normally better cause it wont let the exhaust pressure back up into the cylinder in most setups.

But with this said there is a small chance that not changing it could be better to. But that a lot smaller then going the other way..

Well if that's the case would I be better going 242/238? In keeping with the 4 degrees of split that was previously posted in this thread for LSR lobe turbo cams from Comp.

I'm a bad example to go by. I traded my stock longblock for the forged ironblock 370 in pieces. It came with ported 243 heads, 921 springs, head gaskets, stock crank, all bearings, eagle rods, probe dished pistons, hellfire rings, ARP studs. It was just sitting at the machine shop. The previous owner ran out of money, so I traded him. I had to pay for the machine work, new lifters, oil pump, and assembly. Honestly if you are starting from scratch I would just get a build shortblock from Erik at HKE. One of the local Camaros runs one of his 347's at 800rwhp with a turbo for the last couple years with no issues.

Decided to stick with twin T70's. My builder said it wouldn't be that bad on my bank account to do the front mounts.

Mine will be a little smoother on a 116, but hopefully will have a bit of chop to it.

That sounds much better. I can't wait to see this finished.... You've been planning for a while now, I bet you can't wait.
