So I'm at a bidder's conference yesterday at a hospital (I'm a pre-sales solutions engineer for a large telecommunications and software company) . If you've never been to a bidder's conference, this is where the prospect has all the vendors -- your competition -- gather in the same room to ask questions of the customer. Depending on what is asked, you can find out a ton of information on what your competition is going to propose just based on the questions -- some good, but a lot of stupid ones, too.
Anyway, I ask nothing, take a ton of notes on what everyone else is doing, and the meeting wraps up.
So the meeting is over and I'm in the parking lot putting the notebook and binder in the trunk when I see three guys in suits heading to their BMW 3-series. Clearly one of them is the Sales Rep, one is probably a Solutions Engineer like me, and the third I'm guessing is the service manager or something.
I hear one of them say,"Man! What are we doing wrong???" I look up and fellow solutions engineer is looking right at me getting in the Goat.
THAT put a smile on my face for the ride home...
Every now and then, you get these compliments. Always nice for the ego! Heh!
