A GTO is on the front page of the oct.09 issue of car and driver!
I just got my new magazine today in the mail and low and behold i see 10 cars on the front page and one of them is a gto. I havnt seen a gto on the front of a magazie in a while now so i was a bit suprised. The reason its on there is because there doing a section on "The best cars new or used for $20,000" and the gto is one of them! Its a silver 04 but they say in the section that 04-06 are all pretty much in that catagory for price. Just thought id let people know so they can read on it.

Top Gear is like the pharmaceutical-grade cocaine of auto television. Once you've had that stuff, you just can't go back to street junk.
Light the Tires and Start Some Fires
Future Purchases in Mind..... One Saturn Sky Redline, One Pontiac GTO, One Chevy Camaro, One El Camino/Maloo, One Ducati 999R One VWR32, One Jeep Rubicon, One Subaru WRX/Audi S4, One Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, One Harley Twin Supercharged, and im going to steal a F-15 Eagle....
This was posted online a week or 2 ago on Car and Drivers website and linked here. That makes this a repost, sorry!
Am I allowed to repost that it was a repost? You think that's something, I got the old Car and Driver magazines where they have a GTO on the cover and they're being reviewed for the first time!! .
Yeah, that's Ben (chirpthird) from the Pittsburgh Crew

Our $20K roundup wouldn’t be complete without a proper muscle car. And although the 2004–’06 Pontiac GTO’s roots can be traced back to Australia, where GM’s large, rear-wheel-drive sedans and coupes never went out of style, it is thoroughly American in its small-block V-8 motivation.
Introduced for 2004 as a bland reskin of the Holden Monaro, the GTO initially came with the C5 Corvette’s 350-hp, 5.7-liter powerhouse known as the LS1. It quickly bulked up for 2005 with bigger brakes, flared hood nostrils, and the same 400-hp, 6.0-liter LS2 that debuted in the then-new C6 Vette.
A bargain in its day at just over 30 grand, even 2006 GTOs now sell for less than $20,000, with many 2004 cars going for less than $15K. Benjamin Mauti, of Pittsburgh, purchased his 2004 example in early 2008 for $16,600, with 27,000 miles on the odometer. “My family has had several old Chevys, but the GTO was more palatable to my wife than a ‘hillbillyish’ Camaro,” he says.
Used as a daily driver and occasional track toy, Mauti’s car now has 45K miles on its clock and has been largely trouble-free. Most of the GTO’s quirks are relatively minor, with Mauti’s only real issue being a rocker panel that once filled with rainwater and soaked the carpet, a problem he eliminated by removing a drain plug in the rear wheel well where the water had collected.
As 2004 models were quickly overshadowed by the more-powerful LS2-engined cars, many owners have upgraded the performance of their early goats, so watch out for less-than-professional and/or excessive modifications. Mauti’s updates have so far been mild: the larger disc brakes and calipers from the 2005–’06 models, Bridgestone RE-01R performance rubber, and a Lingenfelter cold-air intake.
Our day at the track highlights the comfort of what are some of the best seats of any GM vehicle, as well as the old-school grumble from the true dual exhausts. The Bridgestones on Mauti’s car markedly improve the lateral grip of the compliant and well-controlled suspension. However, we also are reminded that the GTO’s optional six-speed manual is not GM’s best execution, especially the awkward, widely spaced pedals that make heel-and-toe downshifting nearly impossible. —Mike Sutton

Yea, cause a heavy car with small wheel wells, and 60 lbs seats really should be able to save a second on the road course going through a corner with heel and toe shifting.
You didn't even make this thread lol... You should aid in the taunting of !!
Well im sooo sorry for not seeing this on here before. I think like me 95% of the people on here maybe missed that one, so since i just got the magazine delivered today i thought id share it with others. But again thank you very much for telling me it was already on here, I dont know what we would do without you taunting peoples threads.

What's funny is their 2006 "10 Best" Mustang, the one that won the heads up competition because of its "gotta have it factor," didn't make the cut.
Parrot cage liner.
I noticed that too; I was like 'where's their gotta have it mobile?' There's a reason I don't subscribe to C&D or Automobile anymore, and I'm pondering letting my MT sub lapse as well. I have like 2 years to think about it though lol.
GMHTP and Car Craft/Hot Rod cover pretty much everything I need to know about cars.
Oh, and this is kind of a thread jack, but the editor of MT just bought, get this, a Prius. A smurfing Prius. My opinion of that magazine and anything St Antione says is forever tarnished. No car enthusiast should ever be caught dead in a Prius, let alone actually pay for one.
