exterior motor oxidation

I have seen this on numerous other cars but while searching for GTOs the motors(at least in the pics) seem to not really have any. Im supposed to be picking up a GTO this weekend an I noticed that the motor has some oxidation on it(and is quite dusty= owner prob never cleaned it). The car is an 05 and has just over 14k on it and has spent off road life in a garage and under a cover. Does the oxidation just come from the present owner not cleaning the motor? Also the hood has never been off the car as the orginal paint is still covering all the connection points...and the carfax came back clean...any insight is appreciated...thanks!

I know the dealer I got my car from sprayed engine shine or some crap on the motor that looked like oxidation after a while. I went at it with a razor blade and it flaked off like peeling paint. What was underneath was nice aluminum.

If it was always under a cover and not a high quality breathable cover that may be part of the problem...Escpecially if the garage is not temp controlled..

yeah the garage was def not temp controlled and the cover i saw didnt look to high quality...so maybe the cover just trapped moisture under it which resulted in the oxidation?....

YEah thats what happens and if it is sitting on concrete it accelerates the process. I would say you have nothing to worry about except a little elbow grease to clean it up and you will be fine...

Mine looks the same way...I'm gonna clean it up as soon as I get some free time though.
