Well, I just came back from the weekend unscathed.Ditto for my car. Did all I could prior to the event to get the GTO ready from the last time I posted "Help a newbie to HPDE".The EBC yellow brake pads have worked well for me not only on the street (a bit noisy but not after this) but also on the track. Mind you I'm pretty sure I didn't use my brake's THAT much, but coming down from 120+ mph from the straightaway through turn 1 put good use to good pads and tires. There were a couple of times that hard braking came into play on the track,so the brake fluid upgrade definitely was a good idea. Never felt fade at all. Still changed my tires though, my Yokohama S. Drives had a nail in the two passenger side tires, and I didn't want to drive on the track like that. But the Goodyear F1 All Season tires held up very well considering I was giving them a good workout. I always pushed them to their limits, and only once slid off track for a second because I was coming in a WEE bit too hot in a turn.Didnt' hurt anything and it was only for a second then I got back on track. But I need a little bit more negative camber, those shoulders on the tires held fine but got at high speeds lost alot of tread. Overall,I learned alot and had a friggin' blast. definitely got bit by the racing bug hard. Now all that runs through my head is "Turn in,hit the apex, and track out".....Couldn't get alot of sleep after the first day because the course was runnig through my head. One thing that suprised me was the lack of the competitiveness I've seen in drag racing and other events. Everyone was there to have fun and see what they could do with their car and not against anyone else. I definitely have a new respect for Miatas.lol.Was probably the most fun I've ever had and the nicest people I've ever met. Thanks to the folks at Texas World Speedway,my instructor Kevin, and All yous guys for the advice to get me ready. Power to the People!
you and I met briefly on Saturday morning. great weekend wasn't it ? lots of fast cars kept it interesting. its weekends like that one that keeps us coming back !

Lol, yeah, you'll be thinking this for the next two weeks! And BTW welcome to the racing bug! Go out there one more time, and that hook will be set! Plus its amazing to see how much time you drop in your first few events.
But... if you really really like it... Start saving for the brake kit and other track mods now!!!
