Any ideas on the "least expensive" upgrades that can be done to an 05 Goat M6 so it can eat a Viper...only Lingenfelter CAI on now...no Blowers...
Some Help Please!!
You need a lot more power. Blower would be easiest.
You'll need to make a lot more power than the Viper, because it is like 600lbs lighter and has a lot more traction.

Where do you start with this question?? Are you expecting to be spoon feed?? Try doing a search, you dumb canuk...
Why so angry, double edged sword for us newbies, search and get good info or ask and get GREAT info but get angry posts like this.. Remember we are NEWBIES but us newbies still love all you cranky arse vets.. You have good info lol ..
BTW most of us actualy do search before asking, because we hate seeing "search for it buttcake" every time we ask a question, just didn't find what we were looking for or our search skill suck that day ..

Read the OP's post again. Its a vague, over generalized, lazy question.
"How do I make my GTO fast for not a lot of money?"
I agree the question is a bit open ended and leaves alot of unanswered questions.. A better way of asking would have been to say:
I have 600$ and am looking for the biggest bang for my $$.. Or asking in which order should I apply my $$ CAI,header, mids, exaust..
I am not disputing the question itsself just the poopy attitude people have when we ask a question.. We ALL ask questions that someone says WTF just don't need to insult people
I agree. And notice that I answered in a non-dick form. However, if he'd asked a more intelligent question, he would have gotten a much more intelligent response from the forum.

...and the biggest problem with the "search feature" is that usually it starts out with several pages of "Atlanta goat sightings" and similar. Really? Since when did "cheapest performance mods" relate to search results of "Guess what my neighbor's dog did to my $2300 wheels?"
The search feature on this site leaves a LOT to be desired. He's totally right in the way he did this. He says he DID search, and was not impressed with the results, so started this thread.
I saw some decent responses to his query. Let's help this guy out, shall we?
It's the flame responses to newb's that show the rest of the performance car community the GTO and it's followers are a joke. I love my little hot-rod, and am here on the forum to learn all I can about it. I'm sure he's in the same boat. There are a lot of decent, knowledgeable people on this forum, it's just some self-righteous clowns flaming that make the rest of us look bad.

heck, even an HP tuner is, what, $400? If you already have a laptop, good for you. If not, you're sol, there's another $400--oops, just blew the $600 limit.
How about an HP tuner and an Underdrive pulley? That'd about do in his budget.

Yeah, every time I go to a car show people are coming up to me saying how my car and I are a joke because of how we treat newbies on our site
I have seen dozens and dozens of threads exactly like this one over the years I've been on here. Its just lazy. We only help those who help themselves.
It isn't only about searching. Its about reading. I'm sure there are plenty of threads regarding making loads of power right on the front pages of several sections of this site, or just a page back, if you just look. This is the same as making a "which cai is best, I searched but didn't find a good answer". Its so general a question it can't be answered, and just pisses people off when they see it over and over.
Ok...let's unlazy the question then....it seems everybody is adding headers and exhausts, but how much rwhp r they really gaining and how much time do they shave off their 1/4 mile....if weight is the major issue...is there anyway to shave some weight off, does taking out the back seats help or is it more important to take weight off the front end since its heavier there....also i was told an hp tune would get me approx 20 rwhp. is that close to what others owners have experienced. I've read almost all the posts on this site and others. I guess the main question is how much time do u shave off compared to how much hp u add. Do all those suspension upgrades from pedders actually help acceleration times or just handling. And is it just me or is Pedders really overpriced. I found the same parts in their kits for less when bought seperately
Sorry for the open ended question earlier, i thought my goal would be understood since i was talking to GTO owners who've had similar experiences.
A hand held turner is a great first investment, then take basic concepts like more air in the more air needs out, so look at headers, mids, catback.. If you are able to do your own work you could do a cam, intake and heads and add a few more HP..
Depends in what you can do yourself and what you will have to pay someone to do first things I did are CAI, programmer, headers, mids and have kooks axelbacks on order, quick hp with only mid level skills needed..
Forged shortblock, cam, clutch or converter, intake and heads. And of course a tune!
There, just as vague as your original post. Leaves lots of room for interpretation.

Top Gear is like the pharmaceutical-grade cocaine of auto television. Once you've had that stuff, you just can't go back to street junk.

If you've got 5 grand, the only way you're going to beat a Viper is by buying forged parts (and pulling/installing your engine yourself) and spraying the ever loving piss out of your goat. And even then he'll still probably hand you your ass.
You can get a Maggie for 5 grand, but he'll still outrun you.
