OMG! OMG!! Swine Flu Vaccine OMG!!! OMG!!!!

Golly, I sure hope no one here on this site is stupid enough to actually get one of them thar H1N1 Swine flu bug shots! I mean, I heard from an unimpeachable source (neighbor's porch contractor) that goodness know what might actually happen to you if you allow this swill of the Devil in to your veins.

This is all like a gigantically hush-hushed conspiracy to force millions of us to inject raw sewage into our bodies so we'll be more likely to vote for anything the politicians want us to swallow. Why, I even bet there's radioactive things and what-not that could get into your stool and make it easy to track you down and make you suck your thumb. By Jeezum not me I say!!!

Besides, what could possibly happen if you were to actually catch the Swine H1N1 ZZ-Top virus? You could die, but don't let those true scare tactics influence you one little bit. Hey! We all die eventually, and I'd sure as heck rather go down fightin' some viral bugger like a man rather than bent over in a corner taking a needle in the butt.

If those morons who are trying to scare you away from ever getting the vaccine succeed, there'll be more of it for folks like me and my family. Wait! Wut??????

I'm NOT getting the shot. I hope I die from swine flu so I don't have to hear anybody talk about swine flu.

When I was in the Navy, they made us get flu shots...and I'd end up getting sick as a dog...I have yet to have one since I got out 18 years ago, and I survive just fine.

That being said, I realize that there are some people who should get flu shots...but for right now, I'll pass and take my chances.

All three of my children got it. The one with Asthma was sick as a dog for a day, then the Tamiflu kicked out the bug. The other two kids brushed it off like it was nothing. Since they got swine flu before the vaccine was available I don't have to make that choice to vaccinate them or not. As to the OP, who is trying to scare people into getting the vaccine and what is their motive? The only thing I see is people scared of the evil influenza getting dangerous vaccines. As I said in a previous post I will take my chances with god and nature. I did and I won, no adjuvant required.

Some young teenager came in with her mom with one of those goddamn stupid SARS masks on. I didn't have it in me to tell her how dumb she looked and the fact that her mask doesn't do shit to stop the spread of the virus.

I bet she thought she was badass though....

Oh and now we have a tamiflu shortage so we are all going to die. I spent half the day pulling capsules apart and making suspensions because of course, the world is ending and the manufacturers didn't have enough time early in the year to make this shit.

On a more important topic, it appears that the H1N1 is causing cilia damage in young people. Why should you care? Well that cilia helps to sweep out the shit from you lungs upwards and out of the lungs to either be coughed up or swallowed. If they fail, it is like a long term smoker who hacks all the time and gets pneumonia and shit from all the crap consolidating inside your lungs. Basically you can drown in your own respiratory goo...

Pretty cool huh?

Extremely cool.

In what percent of people infected with H1N1 are they seeing cilia damage?

Just spitballing here... so your saying that "potentially" cila damage is coming from the already deceased which realistically is less then 1% of the people effected by H1N1.

I'm certainly no doctor, but that makes the numbers seem really insignificant if true.

Way to much speculation on everything I have heard from this BS.

I am not 100% sure. My guess is that people who are dying, especially young and "healthy" are getting an autopsy when it comes to the H1N1. I may be wrong.

However is rational to believe that some people who recover from this strain, IF their course was bad enough, could have permanent damage to their lining of their airway.

Stats were made to be skewed though. If you say there is 300 million people in the US and 250 million eventually get the swine flu and 1% of those die from the swine flu. That is a pretty statistically significant number IMO. However one must look at all the data first and determine if these individuals were "high" risk (asthma, COPD, heart failure, diabetes, etc).
Who knows how it is going to play out. What we do know is that people have died with no underlying pathophysiology. That is the worrisome part.

This. And it sounds like it hasn't even really started to burn through the population yet. I can understand being wary of the vaccine, but I don't think it should be done by trying to minimize the potential seriousness of H1N1.

As I understand it, any Flu virus is extremely rough on the lungs.

Maybe you can give me a better understanding staticstically. Rumor has it that H1N1 doesn't have that much higher death rate then the regular ol' flu anyway

I can get the H1N1 for free and I think I am going to do it. I also can get the seasonal for free but I never get that one.

I am not one to worry about the vaccines preservatives making my sperm retarded. I mean if you have had your "normal" shots that were recommended as a child, you have been exposed to all of the crap anyway.

Besides the flu-mist, I don't see what the fuss is and that is only in special populations. Injecting DEAD vaccine RNA into your body really isn't going to pose much harm. WHY? BECAUSE IT IS DEAD. If it cannot get into your cells and use the replication machinery to make more of the virus, it cannot do anything. Worse case scenario, the preservatives give us cancer. Guess what? Your chance of getting cancer from everything else is probably higher. Big deal.

I live in a very rural community and at least 30+ kids in our highschool are infected.

also 2 of my clients,

my assistant has been out 3 days with it, and his entire family has it because one of his kids brought it home.

may not be burning through your community. sure seems like it with mine though.

I'm leaning towards getting the H1N1 myself. I usually do get the seasonal every year, and will get it this year.

The numbers are skewed for whatever agenda someone wants. Typically is has been estimated IIRC like 40k deaths per year are caused by the "regular" flu virus. However that isn't 40k "healthy" people dying. I am sure there are some "healthy" people who die from it but mainly the deaths are attributed to exacerbations of underlying disease as I mentioned previously.

We don't have enough data on the H1N1. I am just reporting of what the latest I hear is. Even as pharmacists, we are tied into breaking news from the CDC. I get about 3-4 emails from the CDC and directives on what to do in case of different scenarios. The potential REAL concern IMO is that we have a shortage of tamiflu. The H1N1 responds to tamiflu. That is a good thing. IF the tamiflu reserves dry up completely due to not enough raw materials being available, IMO you *MAY* see an increase in certainly morbidity but it is prudent to assume mortality as well. Currently I cannot and there are no pharmacies that I know of that have the 12mg/ml Tamiflu suspension. It is on backorder. Therefore, we have to take the adult 75mg stock and compound the suspension based on the appropriate mg/kg dosing.

Sorry I have no hard stats. We won't see that until the middle to end of the flu season. What I can say with near certainty, is if this flu goes ape shit and infects 75+% of the American population, the shit will hit the fan. How? I and nobody else knows quite yet.
