Not recent news, but sucks nevertheless. I'd be slightly pissed if I bought one of those and found out a standard item was omitted, airbags or otherwise.

Fleet vehicles were offered to Enterprise and several other fleet buyers with the option of side airbag delete for $175 discount per car sold. 66,000 sold to Enterprise... total around 110,000 cars have side airbags deleted.
People not informed when re-sold as used cars.
