Unhappy Loud POP, then squeaky?

So I went to turn my car on tonight after visiting wally world and i hear a loud POP when it starts up and then when I start to give it gas under any amount of load it sounds like a chirping or a belt squeaking?!? What would cause this? It seems to be running fine still but I don't know what would cause a loud popping noise on start up.

Sorry if the answer to this is dumb and easy ha.

Maybe the bearings went out on a pulley? Not sure if it would pop like that or not, but the bearings were shot on my A/C tensioner pulley and I got chirping/squeaking under any amount of gas. Easy to replace, but it cost me $80 or so at Kragen.

I think anyone who says "turned my car on" should just take it to a mechanic.

Is it chirping at idle or when you rev it a little at idle? If so, pour a little water on the belt while it is doing it. If it immediately goes away, replace the belt. I'm installing a new A/C belt this morning.

I'll disregard the first part of that ... ha. It's only chirping when I start to give it gas and rev it. At idle I don't seem to hear it.

Mine did almost the exact thing and it turned out to be the AC tensioner pulley bearings gone bad

How hard was that bastard to replace? I just replace my belt and it took care of my squeak, but that tensioner sure feels weak to me. Looks like a semi-PITA to get to.

Have you never watched a Caddy commercial? "When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?

Mine does

15 minute job, and that's from someone that took 3 days to put long tubes on. Front of the car on jack stands, and it came out from the bottom with two bolts after pulling the belt off.

Cool. Thanks! I ran the A/C a few times today and it didn't squeek. The old belt sure didn't look bad though, so I'll probably be replacing it soon.

Yeah, I'll have to check that out here soon. I'm putting the car away for winter soon anyway so I'll just fix it over winter lol.

Ps... Your name is sweet. Rodgers is a stud haha. Too bad we choked hardcore in the first half against the Vikes... bye bye division winning hopes

When my car's AC condenser blew out, it made a loud pop! followed by a squeak.

Does your A/C still defog and blow out cold air?
