Jay Leno's Camaro Running On Pedders!!!

If you have followed our threads, you will know that we are a preferred vendor for GM, and have had the honor of working extensively with GM on the 2010 Camaro and other projects in the past and are working on future ones as well. This is a great honor for Pedders! The engineers we are working with are seriously first class and is a honor to work with them!! The install of this twin turbo is beyond good!. It is flawless and perfect. The guys at Milford are SERIOUSLY beyond perfect!!

GM made a very special Camaro for SEMA for Jay Leno. Guess what suspension system is on the the Queen of the Show? PEDDERS!!!!!! In fact, EVERY GM Camaro that GM made is riding on Pedders!!

Here is the data that was released tonight that we were present at the press introduction:

Powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.6L direct injected V-6 that is standard in Camaro LS and LT models, Leno’s Camaro blends high performance with surprising efficiency in a racing-ready package. A pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers blows through a custom air-to-air intercooler, force-feeding the engine about seven pounds of boost and lifting its horsepower level to about 425. That’s about 40 percent greater than stock and in normal driving (when the turbochargers aren’t making boost), there’s virtually no penalty in fuel economy over the non-turbocharged 3.6L engine.

“Jay’s Camaro offers style, performance and efficiency in a big way,” said Dewar. “It delivers the power of a Camaro SS on demand, but with the fuel economy of a V-6.”

Supporting upgrades for the turbo system include a larger-capacity Be-Kool radiator and a custom exhaust system, as well as a Centerforce-supplied clutch and pressure plate for the six-speed manual transmission. The tubing for the turbo system is powder-coated blue. The powertrain was designed to deliver consistent, controllable power for both the street and race track. In fact, road racing was a primary mission for the car during its development.

Additional vehicle also support its racing intent:
• Brembo six-piston brake package
• Pedders coil-over lowering kit
• New front fascia with custom fog lamps and integral brake cooling vents
• Air extractor-style hood

The exterior styling of Leno’s car is the most radical of all the Camaro concepts at SEMA. The front fascia and hood are one-off creations as are the unique upper and lower grilles and the ground effects package (including a rear diffuser). The heritage-inspired vent styling in front of the rear wheels has been replaced with functional brake cooling ducts.

Here are some pictures with Jay Leno introducing his Camaro:

Now we have already taken some negative emails!. So all know, all the GM Camaros are running on Pedders Suspension, and they bought the suspension!! It was now donated.

This is an awesome car. Very tasteful.
Anybody notice that is has 305s out back?
i was wondering when somebody was going to do a 3.6L TT.
The turbos are at the back of the engine. Guessing that is for weight distribution.
Are those BBS wheels?
With the lighter engine this car must handle well.

Not that I don't think it's a good looking car and the turbo v6 is cool but don't the SS LS3 versions have on demand displacement or whatever the fuel saving mode is?

I just think it's pointless to spend 7 or 8k it probably cost to put the custom turbos on it when it probably doesn't save that much gas?

It's not about gas mileage my man.

For the record the V8 is rated at 16/24

the V6 is rated at 17/29

By the new standards for rating gas mileage that's a huge difference. Now with that said the V6 is a much more technologically advanced motor with dual overhead cam and direct injection. It also has VVT (variable valve timing). I'm not saying the v8 in the camaro is bad motor. As we all know the LS series motors make great power for being "old technology". But the 3.6DI motor is where the future is. Now you throw two turbos on it and likely don't affect gas mileage much if any at all. In theory the 3.6 should be able to push 800hp with forged internals and still get in the high 20's for mileage. Get an LS3 or L99 to 800hp and you're likely getting high teens for mileage.

this "concept" car is what's known as hiding the future in plain sight.

and I didn't mean the pedders suspension.

I love the car from front and rear angles but I just don't like how long the car is. Leno's Camaro above is nice though. I wonder what the price tag is.

My '06 m6, on long trips, gets 26-28mpg, so on paper that tt v6 doesn't look that impressive.
Still, I'd like to know what kind of highway mpg that car could give (not just "on paper").

I caw the car yesterday and really wanted to know what kind of fuel system they used, since the numbers i've heard is the stock pumps on those cars are only good for about 50% of the power gains they are advertising the car makes. Maybe I will try to find a gm person who knows some answers.

They did have the sticker wiped clean on the ecm, so I could not tell if the system was a stock E69 or a different ecm.

Any particular reason this car has blue adjustment knobs with no markings on it? Other camaros at sema that were using the XA coilovers had red adjustment knobs with "XA" markings on them.

Also the front strut/springs were painted black on this vehicle any particular reason for that?

they painted the adjusters to match the front rotors, and I have to guess blacked out the coils to make it look more neutral.

They made a lot of nice improvements... front end, splitter, side skirt extensions, functional brake ducts. These are the way the SS should look already. I'm not sure I care for the rear diffuser or hood but would have to see better pics of those.

Jay Leno has some badass cars and he does good things for the auto industry but somebody needs to tell him the
"Denim Dan" / "Canadian Tuxedo" look is waaaaayyyyy out of style.

One of the big challenges for the aftermarket engine upgrade stuff for the V6 Camaro is their Bosch system. As far as I know, no one has cracked it yet. Will take a serious amount of time and money to do it. But whoever does, will there be enough money in it to make it worth while for the V6? Time will tell.

It was mentioned about the fuel system limitations. We can tell you first hand that this is true. It is also true for the G8, and the GTO. The Justice Pete GTO has an upgraded fuel system, so there are no issues with it. But the Pedders G8 and Camaro have issues with fuel starvation when on the track and over 1.0gs. As far as I know, there are no mods yet to fix this issue on the Camaro as of yet.

I do think, however, the performance industry will be using more and more forced induction because of fuel economy issues, which is probably a direct relationship to Obama Motors. I do not believe the CAFE checks involve power modes, so the forced induction is not a question. This is in fact the case for CARB approval for California. It is typical to get a 2-3 mpg increase until you play with the loud pedal!

But short term, the next 2 Camaros released I think will be the convertible first, then the blown Z28, which will be a big V8!

Thumbs up

This would make a nice Z-28 with about 200 lbs taken out of it.

Or throw a 4.8L crankshaft in a 6.0L or 6.2L block with LS3/L92 cylinder heads and end up with a 5.35L 328 c.i. or 5.5L 339 c.i. high reving engine. Personally I'd go with the 5.35L for cylinder wall thickness and add two GT32RS dual (variable vane) turbos to that with boost from the factory set at 8-10 lbs, and you'll have an engine with instant torque! Also have pretty decent mileage when cruising the highway and around town. That's what the Z-28 engine should be in my opinion. Hell, make it with VVT, AFM, and definitely D.I.

PLEASE.
