Anyone actually like band music?

My daughter was in a district honors band concert tonight. I always grumble about going to the things because I hate sitting on bleachers with a bunch of perfume drenched MILFs in a hot gym....BUT, y'know what? I actually like it. Tonight's performance was pretty damn good, and could have gone on longer.

When I was in the Army, I used to like when we'd have large parades and ceremonies with bands. The best had to be when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and we'd have the division parade. I think it was on the 4h of July. The only thing I hated about them was having to stand at attention or parade rest forever. It was also a bitch because I was guidon bearer one year, and that guidon got real freakin' heavy at "present arms" during the 50 gun salute.

Hell, I'd buy a CD of marching band stuff, but eh...doesn't seem like something I'd jam in the GTO while blasting around.

My 13 year old kid plays the bari sax and the alto sax. Band, jazz band and pep band. I too, have learned to love it! I don't have MILF issues in the gym bleachers though!

Sometimes there is nothing better than a good organized band or orchestra. I love my punk rock, but Bach and such can always soothe my mind. Yo Yo Ma is kinda my favorite

Oh, so you like checking the MILFs out. Mmmm hmmmm.

I do too...but I could do without the perfume bath some of them take. I was lucky this time, and can still breathe.

Yeah, I like to make my ears bleed even in my advanced years, but I still like band and classical music live. We went on a cruise last year, and they had a trio...two violins and a piano. I swear at times it would make me all tingly.

Could have been because one of the violin players was cute and smiling at me too

tried a bit to find one better, or of my class, but guess people did not use video too much in the 80's!

Anyway - where I went and what I did.

My kid was invited to play at NIU last spring, with a few other select middle school band members for the NCJC Conference. Proud Mama moment!

Aw, c'mon...you could at least lie and say you do.

For the record...I can sing, but I can't play anything more advanced than a kazoo.

To the question who really likes band music besides old people is not too many people just look at how many people leave to go to the bathroom or get food during halftime. But I will say if we stayed we'd probably appreciate it more

I really enjoy "band" music. I used to listen to a lot of classical back in the day. I was a "band jock" in high school. All state trumpet and such. I haven't touch my trumpet since high school though. More into metal now.

Yeah, that does bring back memories..."Pass in Review!"

After standing at parade rest for an hour, I think everyone wanted to hear that one.

I went to a high school that was too small to have a real pep band. So, I studied music privately. I can't tell you how shocked I was when I went to the university and observed that 1/2 the students were real live band dorks. I mean, they talked about marches as if they were the essence of life and at the same time they were by far the least skilled of the bunch. It was like some sick herd mentality when the band people got together, ugh, it still sickens me today.

I never thought I'd get into band but when my daughter got into band in 4th grade, I was impressed. High school band competitions are pretty cool. Can't wait to see her in college marching around.

Good stuff

My daughter plays in the concert band at school. We have one of the top rated music programs in the country. I always love going to the concerts. Last spring they played at the Kimmel Center. Awesome stuff, and yes lots o MILFS !

My grandfather loved marching music. Every morning when we would stay at the summer house, my Grandfather would wake everyone up by cranking up some John Phillip Souza. At his memorial service They played some of his favorite selections.. It was a little more upbeat than ave maria for sure.

You can tell who in the audience really enjoys band music and who doesn't. Sometimes it is a bit hard to really enjoy it when it is younger, less experienced band members but that is when I take the time to look around and check out the Sugar Daddys. Yup. I've seen some real potential! I especially love going to the outdoor concerts that my son plays in. The range of people goes from young middle school groupies to old couples.

I loved going to the Rose Parade and hearing the bands. In person, nothing can send shivers up your spine like a 300 member marching band! The sound, the power, it is incredible.
However, it is even better to be in the band! I played clarinet and tuba in HS marching band and tuba in college (Humboldt State marchig Lumber Jacks- Go Jacks!) .
Had a lot of fun memories and for those who think we were geeks, we had incredible parties (that girl in "American Pie" was dead on about band camp!)
