PRC 227's

Anyone on here running these heads? I think they are fairly new. Just curious to see if anyone has them and what they think.

To my knowlage no one is running them because they are not out yet in 227cc form. The 215 version will work better on your car.

from what i have heard they are being made to be a competition to the trick flow 225's and the afr 225's. i'm starting to educate myself on all of this. how would this be less efficient than 215's?

I'll ask them to jump in here, they might not be able to talk about the results yet.

The 227 heads use the small chambers so we can offer the customers a small chamber/larger port configuration perfect for LS2 engines. This is the exact head we used to reset the LS1 heads cam record @ 9.66 n/a! We've had a few cars get the new cylinder head & we've had some very promising results.

On a 4" bore flow plate we've seen WELL into the 330cfm range even while the chamber was left small to keep the compression up.

Most of the competitors 225ish cc heads have huge chambers. If you go milling them down to get your compression you'lll kill all of your p/v. This cylinder head was designed to solve that problem!!

This makes my winter modification list sound better and better.

Jason, any idea on when we could see these available on the website to view results and available for purchase?

so would this be a good mate to a FI application, maggie to be specific?
I've been contemplating getting a set of heads, but alot of the heads cost too much $$$ for the average gains you see. I know part of the reason for getting aftermarket heads is for the extra strength and durability, but i will never make enough power to lift or push water in even stock heads so expensive aftermarket ones are kind of pointless to use in my application. I have thought about getting a set of Patriots, but meh ill look into it more when the time comes.

We are the shop that did the install on these heads. We are waiting on a couple more things to do to the car then we'll be offering a package that will include these heads (shop projects take back seats to customers projects).

Just think along the lines of this; stock bottom end LS2's will make 408 stroker hp numbers.

I had assumed the new PRC 227 heads were for 4" bore (LS2). But, from this quote it sounds like they used it on a LS1?

On many builds, the 215's will be better suited for the LS1 short-blocks...but we can have the 227's built with the small chambers for the LS1 as well!

Believe what?

Do you not think that you can get 500+ rwhp and 460+ rwtq out of a stock bottom end LS2 w/o flycutting the pistons? Do you want me to pm you the dyno sheets?

It's really not that hard, you just have to be a bit more methodical with the selection of parts, and these heads have surpassed any expectations I had for them.

Any idea how much the PRC 227 heads alone gained over the 243 heads?

Looks like my choices are PRC 215, Trickflow CNC 215, or PRC 227 custom made for the LS1 (probably in that order for price too).

I am aiming for 500+ rwhp with hust H/C/I, and from my buld list, i won't have to touch my pistons.

We already had a guinea pig for the heads, unfortunately. However, it did go a 9.66 in the 1/4! (Shop heads/cam record car used the 227cc heads.)

PRC 215cc heads are $2149.99 and the 227cc heads are $2199.99. Both heads come out of the box with PRC EHT .675" springs as well!

I might have to get a set of these 227 heads if I ever get tired of the Dart 225 CNC heads I got from you last time.

We didn't do a before and after on heads, we did it all as a package. The car picked up 132whp with the heads/cam package and a tune. The before numbers had all the "supporting" mods on the car.

I'm a firm believer in not touching pistons, doing 500+ is easy, just get the right stuff.

I'll tell you again, I was blown away by those heads and the way they performed!

Thanks again for yet another bad ass product Jason!
