If I cut my LS3 heads .030, do I do the intake also?? PLEASE HELP!

Any help at all will be very welcomed. My friend Andy put the heads and intake set up on my gto, but I am taking intake off this week to port and I got to thinking do I have a port mismatch now since I cut the heads 030 to get compression back up? Thoughts and opinions please

In most cases, after cutting .030", you will not need to mill the intake for fitment or "port match" to realign the manifold to the heads.

Thanks Matt. Btw, your the ONLY company to tell me the cam I have with the heads is good enough and not to buy something else when I called and spoke to you to go larger on the cam. And thanks for the great deal on my pacesetter long tubes and getting them to me quickly and hassle free.

I purchased my heads from Texas Speed...Matt and the gang were very helpful, quick to respond, and everything fit the way they said it would.

Hey guys, pardon my naivety, but I figure I might as well feel stupid and ask the question. I'm guessing when you say you're cutting .03'' that's inches you hollowed out of the intake ports on the heads? Right? Well how does that get your compression up? Just letting more air in and thus more to compress?

No what he is saying is that the heads were machined 0.030" off the surface where they meet the block. This makes the combustion chamber smaller thereby increasing compression. It has nothing to do with the intake port.

No problem. I like selling parts as much as the next guy, but there are times when a cam swap just isn't worth the money and labor!
