We are proud to introduce one of the next projects from Hinson Motorsports. This RX8 was purchased recently for the sole purpose of developing the RX8 LSx V8 market.
This car was purchased with a turbo RENESIS 13B-MSP engine which made a staggering 256 hp and 180 ft-lb on our chassis dyno.
We are agressively working on this combination. We should be test fitting an engine after Thanksgiving. Our schedule is to complete the initial build with a stock LSx engine and begin testing before the end of the year. Stayed tuned for more information.
GTOshiftlight.com Performance TCM tune, Fasterproms Ported Manifold and TB, !Resonator, Spintech Pro Streets, 4300k HIDs, Kircher Splitter, AZA Z-15s Staggered (19 X 8.5 & 19 X 9.5), Lovells Springs and bushings, Monroe Sensa Trac Struts/Shocks
lol @ 256whp on a aftermarket turbo kit installed on a performance car
lol and 180 torque. That must have been disappointing.

I sold my RX8 after calling tons of people/shops and finding no luck on a LS swap. I was looking at around $10,000 out of pocket for a one off kit... I chickened out, cause the car was only 1 year old, and I didn't want some shop cutting it all up then handing it back over saying "sorry, couldn't make it work, good luck" That happened to a guy that payed way more than that for a 20b swap.
You got the die hards that will forever refuse to swap in a non rotor motor. As the cars are getting older and the replacments on the motors are going away, this would be a good time to have a kit come out.
You might need to do something with the rack, it's not in the best of spots, and you might even need to cut the firewall for some more length. I hope not though. If you can make this happen, I will be picking up another RX8 as soon as the kit is for sale. Hands down, they are one of the best turning and stopping cars I've ever been behind the wheel of.
Good luck!
Ps. RX-8's were never that slow, they just were not fast lol.
i sold my rx8 to get my gto..the car wasnt fast on straight roads..but no car could keep up on the curvy roads around here...with the looks of this car and a v8 you cant go wrong... only question about a v8 is how much would the 50/50 weight balance that attribute to the rx8 handling suffer??
the rx8 is so small though, after being in my GTO, i felt like a giant sitting in my friends rx8...my only complaint about it though, well and the rotary engine, so many lost compression after 20k miles and mazda replaced so many engines because of warranty. other than that its not a half bad car
Nice! You should put a stock GTO spoiler on it when you're done, to match the new engine! What sort of weight distribution do you expect to get when it's done?

GTO spoiler fits right on, who do you think was buying them all when everyone was selling them for dirt cheap haha.
LOL at the underhood pic. Where is that motor from?
Not sure exactly. It's a turbo renesis.

It's gonna be more then how it is stock. I think stock for stock the ls1 is about twice the weight.
13B is like 180ish and the LS1 is like 400ish. Just a guess, It's hard to tell 100% cause I dont know what parts were on those motors when I got those numbers.
The weight difference is much less in an FC or FD rx-7, the RX8 was all motor though and there is not much crap under the hood....its just hidden by covers all over.
