I'm going in tomorrow morning, to get something done. With any luck, I'll finish up by noon.

I used to do it all the time. As I get older I've come to realize that family and friends are more important than making money. You can give a company most of your livelihood and they still lay you off, let you go, outsource your job, or eliminate your position. So I've learned where my priorities lie.

That's the consensus among my family members. It's my first year with the company and for next year we got to bid on which holidays we have to work: I wanted Christmas and New Years off, and sure enough..I have to work both! Oh well. Out the door at 6am and I'll be back at 6:15pm.

Perhaps I will start using that one. The best I could come up with over here is "Feliz Accion de Gracias" or "Happy Action of Thanks". Of course, every literal translation of Spanish sounds funny.

i refuse to work on any "real" holidays...christmas eve/day, thanksgiving, new years eve/day, or easter.

everything else is fair game i guess...except for veterans day or memorial day, but noone works on those days anyway.

Thanksgiving is one of the few paid holidays that we actually get off. Thanksgiving, christmas and easter are the only 3 holidays I get off, have to work every other holiday there is.

I took 7 days off... I just need to work 20 hours from home between last saturday and this coming monday to finish my full time schedule for the month.

(I get paid monthly, and had 140 hours in by the 21st and only needed 160 by close of month so why not come home for a while?)

Today is the only good thing that has come of me getting laid off, thank god i don't have to work. I have had to work on thanksgiving since i was 15, i have missed the past 6 thanksgivings. I am thankful that i finally get to be home to enjoy the holiday with my friends and family. I am sorry for those of you who have to work, i feel your pain.

+1 on this, though I will be working it and Christmas. I don't celebrate it so I usually work those holidays and let my co workers have the holiday.

Lol, no bitchin, actually. I'd rather be here than the madness at home this morning (we host thanksgiving for the family, starting at noon).

Roe and I usually go to Vegas for thanksgiving, but this year with the kitchen remodeling about to begin we decided to have guests over here. I freaking HATE the Holidays with a passion!!!! We're having 12 over for dinner, 4 of them are kids, the oldest is 6, grrrrrrrr.

Before I got disabled I would usually be on the road, spending many thanksgiving in some truck stop in pigs knuckle timbucktoo or some place like that, lol. Surprising enough those truck stops put on a good feast for over the road truck drivers.

Anyway, those of you that are working just think of all the BS you're missing at home or where ever your family is going. And you don't have to worry about your cousin, uncle, or aunt getting into arguments and or fights after a few cocktails, lol. I've seen my share of those kinds of holidays, that's why Roe and I try to get away...........

Yeah, no family madness to spoil a holiday here either. First time not having a big GTG, just hanging out waiting for my sons to come over after they eat with family and spending some quality time with my boys.
