Mounts

I need to replace my motor and trans mounts. I am looking to pull the trigger soon on the kit from revshift.

The question I had was on the hardness of the mount. .. Is the 95A that much harder than the 80A blue? Can anyone elaborate.

The point of replacing the mounts is for something harder but I dont know what to expect. If I go with the hard/race ones, will it not feel comfortable?

I didnt post the link because I dont want to step on anyones toes. Google revshift and you will find it.

I was about to but I also need the transmission mount.
I have not found any place that sells the transmission mount by it self. Revshift has all three mounts for the cheapest price. however the difference is not much and I am also looking at team scss mounts from maryland speed.

If i buy those (hsc), my worry would be that installing a softer or harder trans mount will increase the risk of cracking the bellhousing as it would be taking a lot of the load. Installing matching motor and trans mounts would help eliminate the risk. Or am i just nit picking?

I haven't checked with HSC yet but have you looked at these? I cant see any reason why it wouldn't work with the goat. Their motor mounts work for both, the goats have the C5 parts. This may be way off base but its my thoughts.

wow.. perefect.. i had not seen that.. i will, more likely than not, make that purchase in 3 days.. just waiting on some money to clear. I would much rather buy from a sponsor.. I also like that it is the same price as i would have paid from revshift.

edit: just want to make sure that trans mount will fit

I have the RevShift motor mounts with the 95A, vibrations are definitely more noticeable, but only at very low RPMs. I'm in the process of making a trans mount, as I think that the price for the urethane ones is a bit too high right now. The unit looks great and I'm sure it is well worth the money, but I can make it with only the price of the urethane as I got the welder to make the interlocking brackets my self.

By noticeable, do you mean it would not be ok to take out of town? my daily is a small ford ranger and i use the car on my out of town trips and of course for racing (4 times a year but im going to make it more often). Other than that, I only use the car every once in a while to pick up drive through.

Would the mrs find it uncomfortable for the dates? lol

I run HSC motor mounts and I love them, and my car is pretty choppy. They aren't bad at all. I also opted for the blue revshift trans mount insert. It is working great and I read that your bellhousing should be fine as long as your trans mount is equal or softer than your motor mounts.

I heard having both be very hard could be a bit rough, but I've never tried that. I just know that my current setup is pretty great.

Are the revshift motor mounts interlocking internally? I don't think they are.

How are the stockers constructed (interlocking or not)?

This is my daily driver and I take the entire family out on it. Unless your Mrs. is used to ridding in a Mercedes I don't think she will complaint.

they are not interlocking like the Hinson mounts, but they are not glued like a lot of aftermarket units. They are a T design, they would have to rip through the middle to separate.

Can the rev-shift insert be installed on the car without removing the mount? I'm thinking it will be a good compliment to my HSC mounts.

If you jack the trans up and take the weight off the mount I think you could do it.

You could probably install the insert with the mount on the car, but it's just 4 easy bolts with a jack. I just took mine off and used a vice to press it in.

Thanks rex. How much NVH do you have with them? I ask because I have the SCSS aluminum mounts and with my new motor, the NVH is quite bad...almost to the point that the tuner feels that might be affecting the knock sensors on the dyno. His recommendation is that solids actually tend to have less NVH than the SCSS aluminums. Hmm...

Tom.

Honestly the vibrations arent too bad. Then again its been a year and a half since I drove my car on normal mounts. I do get some KR, but I think its more because the wastegate dumps directly at the knock sensor...haha...

But overall id say solid mounts are fine...if you have good clearance between your exhaust and the frame rails youll be fine

the revshift motor & trans mount kit is where its at. Serious piece of work. Probably the best mount uprade you can do.
NOTE: They are one of my sponsors so my comments may be reguarded as bias, but there top quality and i use them on my race car.
If mods feel i should not comment on a non vendor product because of this issues feel free to delete my post.

I wound up ordering the mounts from revshift.. Even with the vendors black friday specials, revshift's regular price was still cheaper.. (for all 3 mounts)

I got the red/race revshift engine and tranny mounts at 20% off and they have lifetime warranty so I can't complain..
Ill post up my opinion of them once they arrive and i get them installed.
