GTO poke experiment...

Here are some pics of the front. I stacked washers to size the spacers I think I could get by with.

The front is a 18x8.5 45mm offset with a 235 40 18 tire. With what you see in those pics I would basically have a 10mm spacer. I would have to add a little camber I believe to make it real world driveable. Right now my camber is -.4 I would probably have to get it close to -1 which I would like. I would also need longer studs which is a given.

In the rear I am 18x9.5 with a 50mm offset and a 265 35 18 tire. I could also get by with a 10mm spacer back there with a little more fender trimming. Rear wheel studs also a given. I did not take any pics with the rear in place because I am a ******.

Basically this experiment was to see how far I can go. I think I could safely do 10mm all around.

Anyway is this too jank? Should I proceed?

I will have to do this style spacer. I might have to grind down the hub bore a bit on the GTO (but then again maybe not). The hub bore on the GTO is 15mm long BUT it tapers down at the end for the last few mm. It is also smaller than the ID of the bore on the wheel spacers. I would still have to use my aluminum hub rings with this setup.

Overall I think it will work.

Yeah it'll sit similar to my +35 in front and +40 in the rear. I like my look, but not the rubbing LOL

Add some caster and start having some real fun.

I think that I might be getting some slight rubbing with 8.5 47et 245mm and +1.25* caster over stock.

Bran - were you able to roll the fronts with no cracking of the paint?

I have almost maxed out caster on pass front with the superpro radius rod bushings. I currently rub the inner fender liner towards the front under certain circumstances.

Overall I think it will work.

Ok got some info on this.

With a 10mm spacer as shown above that leaves me 8mm of ID depth on that spacer before it shrinks down to accommodate that built in hub that goes into the wheel.

What this means. My aluminum hub rings would have to be machined down to fit inside of there because they are 10mm deep.

What this also means is that the hub on my car would have to be ground down 5mm to fit inside.

So...here is the new plan.

Leave hub ring in the wheel. Get a flat spacer to go between the wheel and hub mounting surface. Then get a spacer made to fit over the hub and between the wheel (or get spacers with a 69.6 id bore to fit over the factory hub.

Now...here is the dilemma.

Factory hub is 15mm deep. The last 1mm is tapered so we have 14mm usable hub.

The aluminum hub ring has a 1mm taper on the inside. This makes the best case scenario 13mm of contact between the hubring and wheel...BUT...the hubring is only 10mm deep. So. Best case scenario we have 9mm of contact being made between the hub and wheel.

The question is how much do we need?

I'm thinking a 8mm spacer would leave me 5mm contact area. That is really only 4mm less than what I have now.

If anyone read this I applaud you. There is a lot of good information here, but it is also useless for 99.5% of GTO owners out there.

Peace jank ass brah.

Do you know how much exactly, or can you see which washers you have in the front?

Also, IMO, stick with a ~7mm spacer max so you don't have to screw with hubcentric adapters
