Thinking of moving on

Well guys I think that time may be coming to move along from the Goat. I have had the car since 2007 and as you can see in my SIG have spent a lot of time and money on the car. I could easily triple what I have in the car to make it faster but in the end it will have the same issues like skinny tires and heavy weight. I have been around Corvettes my whole life and spent my childhood at the track with my stepdad and his 74. If I do sell I will be in the market for a C5 Z06, but i have to get over my attachment to this car.

What do you guys think?

Corvette, the cheapest most cost effective way to make a GTO go faster and handle better

Wouldn't be a bad idea honestly. And if you sell any of those mods you have on your car I may take the diff cover off your hands.

I had a 2003 Z06. Keep the GTO, unless of course you intend on getting a velour jogging suit and a couple of pinky rings.LOL. Vette did not work for me as my kids wouldnt get in the trunk area. if youre gettin rid of it why do you need the springs?

A vette sounds like the easy way out, and since when is doing anything fun easy?

If I do sell I will be removing a lot of my parts as none of them will help the value of the car.

While an easier platform still takes work to make it right, can't just buy one and win all.

Ive always loved corvettes too, but my buddy has a C5 and honestly after driving it a few times, I really like the GTO alot better overall. Dont get me wrong, the C5 is great, but overall it wasnt for me.

Either way, they are both great cars in their own aspects. Drive one and see what you think, you might be the total opposite of me.

for pure performance, it is Corvette, but I have zero interest in one, never have, greatly prefer the GTO. do whatever you prefer.

I would not trade my GTO (happen to love it) but an M3 I would definitely like.

If you don't need the back seat make the trade.

I was seriously considering doing the same thing next year but I've decided I just don't want to be part of the Vette crew so I'm looking at Boxster S's.

Isn't the Chevy SS to be more like a G8? Except it will have an ugly front end like a Monte, or most other Chevys for that matter...

The girl has a G8 GT so no SS for me. I really want to get into some track time and running the local autocross events and while the GTO is fun its just not competitive. I grew up riding around in a C4 ZR-1 and a track prepped 74 with Hooker sidepipes so I was hooked from a young age, no pun intended.

Depends on what you want to do, but I personally would only move on to a C6.
I am a bit biased with my hatred for flip-up headlights, though.

Around here they are still North of $43k, not ready to spend that much on a plastic douche canoe, yet.

I loved my C5Z, it was a better all around car for going fast in every single way. Handling was great out of the box, power was great out of the box, etc.

However:
1. It sucked as an only car
2. I had a more emotional connection with the GTO...no fault of the Vette though.

Both are fun; just depends on what your wants/needs are.

Too many doors, besides I'd rather have a Pontiac G8 than a Chevy clone.

There are some screaming deals out there on low mile modded C5Z's.

Would suck as a daily driver unlike a GTO. I plan on picking up another GTO in about a year when the G8 is paid off.
