Did some painting yesterday

I have been saying I wanted to paint some parts on my car for a few months now, so yesterday me and some buddies got the stuff and finally did it. I did the fake sap mod, painted the kidney grills and plasti dipped my wheels black. The plasti dip is temporary. I wanted to do it that way so I could see how I liked it before I did something more permanent. I really like the way it all turned out.

Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking about doing the lower bumper after installing the SAP lower grill from WCS.

Looks great! I plan on doing the lower part of the grill Friday. Only question is, do you have to tape off the grill itself? Also did you do the entire inside of it or just the visible areas.

Looks great. Paint the hood scoops black. Since you have the fake sap and black kidney's as do I, it will complete the package.

Looks great! I just did rear insert. Once I see how that turns out I might try to duplicate what you did.

I would cover the lower grill. You wouldn't want plasti dip on the radiator.

I didnt plasti dip the front. I painted the grills with low gloss engine enamel. i painted the inner grill so it would all look the same.

I took the kidneys out. I took a fairly long zip tie, put a few bends in it, and stuck it in the grill till it came out a different hole. I gave both ends a nice little tug and it popped out with no problems.

thats not a bad idea. might have to try it. def easier than dropping the bumper. they go back in with no problem?

I wouldn't recommend doing that. The factory grilles should have retaining clips holding them in from the back, unless a previous owner removed them and didn't replace them. If the clips are in place and you attempt to do this, shit will break. Taking off the front bumper is not hard at all, just take your time so that you don't break any clips.

Haven't seen this fake SAP mod, but it does look nice! Did you paint the lower bumper with a rattle can or an actual paint gun?

its rattle can but it looks really good. I was pretty skeptical about it at first, then i saw that my buddy did the same thing with his 350z and it turned out great. Prepping is the most important part. Take your time and do it right the first time so your not trying to fix your mistakes.

fair enough. i used to have to drop the bumper on the maxima for plenty of things. this isnt any harder to be honest. might as well do it right to make it look right.

I did this same thing on my cobalt SS and it came out good, yours looks good but it's just not my cup of tea on the GTO's I like the clean stock look. I pulled my bumper and painted the kidneys and lower grill with 5 coats of glass black and it came out sweet.
