Question best cam for dd 04???

hey guys,if i can get some opinions and some feedback on some good cam setups for an 04 daily driven goat,id greatly appreciate it.. also if you have any vids to post with it..... looking for more of a smooth mellow toned cam, that would be good for a daily driver... not a big fan of the real bubbly/raspy ones, just my opinion

right now i have shorty headers, spintech catback, and k&n intake... near future upgrdes before the cam will be slp lt's w/hi flow cats and downpipes,as well as a 96mm typhoon intake manifold and throttle body combo

let me know whats working for you guys! THANKS

Sup young cat. I suggest you look into something like a 250 / 260 , .690 / .680 , 109+4 LSA.

That should be super smooth and retain nice street manners. If you are an auto this should be fantastic on a stock stall.

+1 here. But in all seriousness use the search button man. I have the Texas Speed Torquer V2 (232/234 .595"/.598") 112lsa which has been proven to be a great DD cam making good power. They have choices from 112-115lsa, the wider you go the smoother the idle.

I am by far from an expert but from the OP original post I would bet the V2 is a little too aggressive. OP look into the the Texas Speed 220R or 224R cam.

220R has been called a race cam that can be used on the street. Fav with the Aussies on a 112.

I would do anything from a 215/220 to a 224/228. Depends on your tolerance regarding what is DD worthy.

NB: I just noted the part regarding shorty headers. I think you will need a custom cam if you intend to retain unless some of the camshafts designed for stock exhaust manifolds fit your intended power range.

I would do all the other mods before you get a cam honestly, and buy another dd.

You should find some members on here who have 04's that are cammed and fly to their place of residence and drive their cars to see if you like it or not, that way you can hear different exhaust's too, and look at all kinds of suspension stuff and wheels, experience what a well tuned engine/transmission feel like, then go back home after visiting no less than 10 members in different states and make your decision. That way you are very "versed" in cam selection along with a variety of other mods for your car. Comon over you can drive mine, but it's slow.

Don't like lope. Keep your stock cam.

Don't like raspy sound. Don't buy spintech.

Now go out and buy a MEGADEATH cam, and quit whining!

Or talk to a sponsor and have a custom cam ordered to fit your modifications / expectations / goals.

Like raygnicky said I do have that cam he mentioned. It is a good cam very good milage if you do not romp on it all the time and drive normal. It will also pass smog here in California if you leave the cats on. I am sure Texas is not so strict like our state so it will be a piece of cake to pass emissions. You will have a lope and there is nothing wrong with that IMO. I also have spintecs as well but no headers, I just have a CAI, cam and a jantzer throttle body. Here is 2 vids of a sound clips of the cam. There are also tons of threads with cam selection questions make sure you search those out good luck.

Appears to me using a Torquer V2 (232/234 .595"/.598") with stock exhaust manifolds is the antithesis of proper camshaft selection.

Buying a cam for how it sounds?

That's like dating a girl because she's a good singer.
