How much is this cam hurting my LS1 maggie

Whats up,

How much is my cam hurting power in my LS1 (stock internals and heads). 224/224 .581/.581 - 114 LSA are the specs.

Here is the tune if it helps....from what can tell it might be pulling out too much timing at the top end of the track b/c of the iat values in the tune. Pretty aggressively pulling timing based on the iat's. How much would you scale it back pulling timing based on iat?

What would you expect with a better cam made for a maggie, and are there any options for better heads that wouldn't be more than $1500 or so?

I do have a single nozzle meth kit running 50/50 meth now, going to upgrade to a dual nozzle kit soon as it is not flowing enough volume through the blower to cool it enough. I am also going to try the heater core mod with the intercooler fluid.

That cam is not to bad, I would want some more exhaust overlap and maybe a 115 LSA. The meth will not really affect the maggie sensor reading IATs. The sensor just sits in the rear of the aluminum housing and heat soaks. The meth will lower and aid the combustion chamber temps. I am no expert just a fellow forum member though, Steel Chicken, Mister Mike or Konniie could help.

Your cam is pretty mild. Not an ideal blower grind but i wouldn't say its hurting anything over the stock cam would. I cant see the tune as i am at work but my tune doesnt pull timing until IAT's reach 150. I have 0 kr

Theres room for more cam, but not that much. Thats a good street cam. Cant look at the tune, as I dont have HPTuners installed.

Why not use the IAT Advance Correction values from a basic Magnuson-supplied tune? The IAT correction in your tune, -11* and greater starting at 149F, is excessive IMO. 19* base timing is not aggressive for the mods you have listed in your signature. For heads, stock 243s would be a good upgrade.

On a completely different topic, I wonder why your MAF transfer function is set to the 512 g/s limit at only 10,000 Hz. My MAF hits 10,000 Hz by 4,000 engine RPM. Also, 11.93 commanded AFR in PE seems a bit lean.

Oh yeah I don't really pull timing in my car untill 130, some don't untill 150 with the maggie. You could get some Advanced Inductions 243. They are some great heads for the money.

It is a ls3 maf, does that matter? I am also thinking that the values it is pulling based on iat is a little excessive.

I do have some logs I took on monday of some cruising and a couple of street wot runs, I will post later.

I tried using 50/50 methanol, 100% methanol --- and no matter how small or how much I added, the car ran slower. I didn't tune for it, so it didn't help any when I needed it.
I'm sure it cooled the air, but no help in the hp dept. And no, I don't want to have to use it all of the time. This was with a 112. I switched to a 2300.

I am not adding timing due to the meth, I am really using it just for higher octane to help prevent detonation from high iat and for the charge cooling effect. I am not bumping up the timing though as if for some reason the meth system does not activate, I dont want the timing too high.

I was thinking maybe a little more exhaust duration might help....would this lower iat at all?

If anyone has some used heads that they want to get rid of for my ls1 let me know.
