06 IBM CCW Photoshoot

WAS IBM, but is now plastidipped matte black LOL!

Props to Curtis Sullivan for some outstanding pictures. Rig shots are awesome and I plan on doing many more in the future. These pictures came out extremely crisp, I couldn't be happier.

Hate them or enjoy them!

Awesome pictures! Wanted to try a rig shot, but I don't see how the picture would turn out that sharp, since all the "rigs" i've seen consist of a long pole that bounces when the car moves.

That's why you leave the motor off, and just coast the car for 5 feet or so. It's not like you're rocketing along at 60.

This is one of those WOW pictures. My sister is a professional wedding photographer, and I've seen her stuff (excellent), and then the "other" stuff. This pic looks great on so many levels. Looks like something out of a magazine.

Do you have a Jamesbiz anodized black front arrowhead on there? I have a rear one and I can't for the life of me find a front one.

Love the wheels and the car looks pretty mean, until you start looking close and see how uneven the plastidip looks. I know its a temporary thing and you don't care, but it would look soo much better with a proper paint job.

I'm sure you read the response of "It Burns When I Pee," but he is correct. We crept the car along for a maxium of 10 feet I'd say. It wasn't the smoothest of roads either.

Indeed I do. I ordered both of them about 6 years ago. They were the very first mods I did to the car and surprisingly, it only took about a month for me to get them.

Can you please point out where you can see the unevenness in the pictures? The processing might have altered it very very slightly, but hopefully some one will chime in that has seen it in person. I've stared at them for a while and can't seem to pick anything out.

Soon enough, it will be IBM again.

Until you have seen this car in person sprayed by the one and only Eddie your comment holds no merit. Those aren't photoshopped pics, the finish looks just as crisp and smoothe in person.

Car is flawless, smooth as a babies bottom. You have to the right equipment, plastidip in gallons not rattlecans to start off and Eddie can chime in on what else is needed.

Both these pictures appear to have shiny spots with a dull streak that runs down right below the rear corner of the window.

This one looks blotchy but its also on the window trim. Not sure if you sprayed that as well.

Don't get me wrong, car looks great, I know it was done correctly. Maybe its just the lighting or something.

Ah! Yea, thank you for pointing those out. The first two are strictly from post processing and the lighting. Sun was popping in and out of the clouds, making it difficult to obtain optimul conditions for the matte black, but with that said, small imperfections may seem to be on the car from the pictures. I can assure you though, there are not.

I'm going to have to look at the car from the last picture you posted. I certainly haven't noticed anything there, but I will chime back in on it once I get a chance to look.

The same spots that BAAD pointed out were on your last set of pictures. So, it is the dip, and not the pictures.

A matte color is not going to portray a PURE color under direct lighting, thanks though.

Do you know what a histogram is? There are dark spots and lighter spots throughout the range of a picture. You are not going to get one solid color on a car when dealing with ANY kind of lighting. Before you criticize every single picture I post up, do a little research on post processing and what it entails.

If you wouldn't mind, would you please provide proof that these "spots" are indeed the plastidip as you have mentioned.

OMG!!!! Look at these huge spots in your paint! It must certianly be your paint job! It's even on the windows and the trim! Crazy! Get my point?

Simmer down, pimpin'. I just saw the same in this picture:

I apologize if my "criticism" offended you on this public forum. Regardless, the dip is not my thing, but the wheels look amazing. Keep doing you, though. I am sure it looks different in person. If you ever return to IBM with the CCWs, your car will look marvelous.

I understand the dip is not your thing and you've made that very clear with your posts. I'm not offended one bit as I'm sure you've seen my responses to others as well. But, when someone states or merits what something might be with no proof, it is certainly frustrating. There were a few people in the Texas section that scratched their heads when they saw pictures at first, but had a change in opinion once they saw it in person.

Regardless, I appreciate the kind words. Like I've stated, this is only temporary and the car will return to IBM in the near future. But, in reference to the pictures, what you see is strictly lighting on a matte color. It is 100% different as you can see from a car that has a clear.

I'm not a fan of Plastidip at all. I think it's great for getting a good idea of how something would look before actually painting it, but that's as far as I'd take it.

That said, the car and photography look great! I'm especially loving that last shot. Very nice!

My painted matte car doesn't do that under any lighting conditions. I guess the plasti-dip only likes certain lighting conditions, unlike real paint.

What is "that"? How does one product "like" more conditions than another?

Smurf me runnin, man! lol!

I understand the fact that the majority doesn't like plastidip. Cool. Great. But, right now, I am all ears. Please explain to me (besides the difference in contrast from one paint manufacture to another, as ideally, one may be slightly darker or lighter than another) how this plastidip would be prone to a different reaction from sunlight, versus your matte paint? Sure, it's not paint, it's a very very very thin rubber. But, how would one or the other serve a different reaction with no clear coat?
