I am just looking for a quick and easy tips to install an x pipe in place of resonator. For example, what did you guys use to cut the resonator off, with exhaust pipes on the car or off the car, how long did it take, and etc.?
I just used a saw-zall with a few good metal blades. Mark where it needs to be, cut off resonator. Cut as close to the body of the resonator as possible so you can use the end with the flange, install x with clamps like the ones listed below:
That way you can always un-clamp it and change(like I have many times) to an H pipe or another dual in/out muffler set-up.
Also with these type of clamps, you can adjust the system front to back a little to get it to line up. Just don't tighten the clamps fully until you have the tips lined up because they will move once you cut the pipes.

A fair exhaust shop can do this cheaper and better than you can on your own unless you already have a welder, sawzall, hole saws ect. If you have the tools / equipment than an H pipe is simple with generic pipe from auto parts store. An x-pipe you would be better off ordering a prefabbed piece from summit.
Good points... Thanks. I have the x pipe, and will weld the flanges once I take the resonator off. This way I can adjust/align the flanges to the oem. The clamps will only be used after the x. Just want to mKe the cutting as easy as possible.
Just take a hacksaw to it, shouldn't take more than a day of sawing orrrr take it to an exhaust shop and for 20 bux they can get it on, at least where I'm at.

works very well, clamping is ok but if a welder is as your disposale weld it. no leaks and should never come off unless for some unknown reason the welds would crack....but any good welder can lay down a bead of weld that will hold till the exhaust rusts apart.
