Radio Code

I put a different radio in my car that I had laying around, but I don't Have the code. I called the dealer and they said that I have to bring the car in for them to program it. Is that true? Or is there a way that I can look up the code somehow?

I know there is a thread about this somewhere, had the same problem. Dealer service manager can pull up the code on their computer if I remember correctly.

He said he was gonna charge me $55.00 to do it. I can buy a different radio with the code for about that price, lol.

To get the code back, you need a GM Tech2 diagnostic device. The radio is "married" to the car, to prevent cannibalistic theft of stock radios by fellow GTO owners.

Here's a direct link to get the code for the GTO's Radio:
http://www.ukbookshelf.co.uk/gto

You'll need to make a payment in GB Pounds though. The paypal site is already set up for the conversion though. You need the serial number for your radio.
Mine started with BP2258 4 .......

I literally just did this earlier today for another radio I had in my collection, and had an email with the code within 15 minutes. Excellent service!!

I just did that this morning, and it was a grand total of $7.78 USD (via paypal). Converted, it comes to £5.00 GBP. The site you're accessing it on must not be converting it properly.

Thank you

I've actually used it about 4-5 times over the years. They used to want a donation of at least £10.00 GBP, but I guess people were arguing about the cost, so they brought it down. The codes worked perfectly every time one was sent to me.
