How many GTO's are left?

I have a M6 05 PBM red interior anyone know how many like mine are on the road. I've tried searching and have only come up with the total productions of each. I can not find current numbers that are on the road as of 2013.

There is no way to tell unless you had access to each states motor vehicle division to see how many are registered. Even then, you would never know what options those cars had.

Your best bet is to try and start a poll on here and see how many people respond and participate.

Many GTO owners have nothing to do with the forum.

No people do that to show how many of their car with the stock options were made. There is no way to know how many are still on the road unless you had access to that information from each state as mentioned above.

It's a question I wish I could find the answer to. Just fun conversation, I think it is really cool owning a car that dies alittle each day. The war of attrition!

I too think it would be cool to find out.

Total production numbers for all 3 years were 40,757. I know that it is possible to have only half of those left.

Not really cool owning a car that is dying off as replacement parts cost will be through the roof and harder to get plus better chance of another one biting the dust in case of an accident due to those astronomical parts costs. Attrition almost always wins...

40k total built, I would take a wild guess and say, that its pretty safe to say AT LEAST 5k+ are wrecked/off the road for good, most likely its much higher than that, my personal opinion might be off, but I feel as if its low 30,000s on the road today

How many died in the infamous 05 train wreck?

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22153

One person commented that 3 rail cars were destroyed with 10 GTO's apiece in there.
Didn't know there was an 04 train wreck as well. Geeeze

Seems like there is always a post about someone who just totaled their car on here. Inexperienced driver + too much HP = totaled GTOs.

I'm with you- I'll bet there are around 50% still on the road.

Hey your link is broken! Do you have one for M6 04 IBM black interior?

...I kid.

But seriously, if you really wanted to find out... figure out how many GTO owners are on the board and how many have wrecked theirs... and then apply that percentage to the total produced. It's that easy!

There are a few registry threads floating around and a few with VINs posted I believe.

Great for thieves with a dealer buddy that can make keys and wait for social butterflies to post on their FB that they are on vacation.

I'm with you on that. 20,000 maybe 25,000 sounds about right. Even ordinary cars have an attrition rate (20 years) and with the types of drivers these cars attract and how easily they're totaled I'm sure it is above normal. For every person that has posted they totaled their goat there are multiples thereof that silently go away and don't tell every one.

I subscribed to get an email notice from Cleveland Pick-A-Part whenever they get a wrecked GTO. http://www.clevelandpickapart.com/ I have been shocked at how frequently I hear from them. Dudes are wrecking GTOs at a furious pace.
