Pretty impressive for these cars. Combination Motorsports have got it going with this monster. They actually had to back out of it in order to maintain control. Forseeable 8's in the near future.
b-bodies are total sleepers. nobody expects a big heavy lad yacht to run fast, but it ain't hard to get 'em in the 12's... and i know of quite a few that run 11's or better

we held the 98 F body gathering in Atlanta the same weekend as the Impala SS boys held thier gathering..... i led a caravan of 29 f bodies and 17 Impala SS's from VA to GA via I85 (we decited to pool together...)...we had a blast. down in GA... over 200 of those pups showed up....and we had over 200 f bodies too. running around on the beltways and stuff.. its amazing how many folks yeilded to the the impala, especialy the black ones...they though they were cop cars LOL. some real fast ones were there too..pretty impressive.
what crack are you smoking? they have very comfy interiors with TONS of room. and the back seat is great for... ummm... errr... extracurricular activities!

Not as good as you I guess. LOL,
yeah they are roomy, and comfy. One of the best highway cars out there, but the quality of materials inside was abysmal. The type of stuff that got GM in the mess it faces now.
It was nothing more than a cool looking Caprice LT with a few 9C1 bits installed and some big wheels. Love the look, love the car, but call it what it is. Another form of Badge engineering. Very little differentiated it from the 9C1 or the Caprice with a leather interior, but very typical for 80s and early 90s era GM stuff.

Thank you Selena. They are VERY spacious and the seats are exceptionally comfortable. The only reason people say it is cheap is because GM used a lot of plastic parts on the inside. To each his own. The car is a flat out sleeper.
anyone who's ever been to the track here in LV has seen that thing at least once...a very reputable shop...any test and tune, they're usually there messing around w/it...
Let's see, I had PDP syndrome, spring hole in the front seat, crappy stock carpeting, twice had to pull the IP out because the whole display dimmed to the point of being unreadable, armrest started pulling out on driver side... need I say more?
I still missed that car until the Goat came along!
sorry for the slight hijack... but man, i must have a ringer. my 92 roadmaster (basically the same car as the caprice/impala) with 121,000 miles has no IP problems (mine's all analog tho), no seat or spring problems, no carpet problems, and no armrest problems.
yes, they use plastic on the interior, but last i checked every car has plastic interior pieces. none of mine are cracked or broken and they all look good to me. the fake wood on the dash still shines like new (of course i use Zaino plastic polish on it every now and then). the fit and finish is perfect inside and out. my power antenna works without problems. my 3 power lumbars in each front seat work fine. my power reclining and back and forth/up and down features on the two front seats work fine. my automatic climate control works fine and is awesome!! my automatic headlights (twilight sentinel) work fine. my dynaride suspension works fine (the pump still inflates the air shocks and everything). my compass on the rearview mirror works fine (i did have to recalibrate it when i bought the car, but it's fine). my keyless entry works fine. all my power windows and locks work fine. the supple leather seats are not torn and i Zaino them regularly. shoot, even the stock radio and tape deck worked fine, but have since been replaced with a CD player. i am very happy with my 14 year old car. it has been trouble free for me.
when i bought the car, it had two minor issues that come with age and wear. the original old man who owned it had a steering wheel cover that kind of chewed up and funkified the leather on the steering wheel. the light gray leather was almost black when i bought the car. it was nasty. but the steering wheel did clean up nicely after a treatment of Zaino leather cleaner. however, there's some small wear gashes in the leather that are still there (looks kinda like someone scraped their fingernails all over the leather). the second thing was the C-pillar trim on the driver's side. the felt covering started to come away from the foam covered plastic (just like a saggy roof headliner does--my headliner is fine tho). i still have to get that fixed, but that's minor and i'm the only one that notices it. other than that, i'm trouble free. woohoo!!!
now if i just had mod money so i could run 9's

Comfortable? Yes. But very cheap. The leather on the seats is very cheap. i had one seat covered replaced under warranty and the rest done by a shop. The carpet is made out of squirrel fur and I replaced that as well. Door windows break (bad roller design) and the door panals have deteriorated to the point where Ihave extra screws holding them together. Go to the ImpalaSSforum site to read the please for someone to make affordable replacements. My antenna sometimes doesn't go down and both knobs on the stereo have broke.
The paint is toast as well. But hey, the rest of the car, mechanically, except for the worn steering box and power steering leak, is good at 96K miles.
My car is a '96 Impala SS, made in the last week of november/96, just a couple of
I have 1.6 rr, Hypertech tuning, all poly bushings in the front end, all moog front end, buick center link, F bar front/HA bar rear, Metco rear lowers, monroe severe service shocks, 52mm throttle body, SLP headers, Dynomax cat back, export pipes, export headlamps,3.42 rear gears, other wise it is still stock!
Ok we need to ban Max for putting Hemi Charger and LT1 Impala in the same sentence
And you own one!
Edit: -- sorry forgot the
Well before you guys thinkIm some SS hater,
Yeah, I owned a DGGM from 95-00 and it had pretty much all the bolt ons. ran 14.0 at 100mph and that was without trying for anything better than a 2.3+ 60' time. I was heavily involved in NAISSO and toured the B-body plant while the SS was being made twice. I was there the day the last SS rolled off the assembly line, saw John Moss sign the last 2 cars and send them on their way. Had my trunk signed by Moss, Pinky randle and a lot of other people. I loved that car. It probably cost me my first marriage, but at least the car never gave me a bit of trouble I didnt ask for. I turned it into a down payment on my current house and never looked back.
Now I have a Black 95 Imp SS with 45k on it. Its all stock except for the exhaust and suspension. Its under a cover in my garage while the GTO sits outside as a daily driver. NO I dont like that, but I cant afford a bigger house and there is no room for another garage.
It had the purple door panel syndrome,
broken seat spring that went hrough the cheaper than paper leather,
hole in carpet where your left foot goes because of the cables and wiring underneath wear through.
paint chipping off the steering column,
sunken hole in the middle of the lower seat cushion
broken fan motor
horribly worn steering box
popping ball joints
all 4 windows had the rollers break, and the list goes on.
but I love the car and wont get rid of it. It was my dads before he passed away so it stays inside, nice and warm and in the family. BUT at the same time I can acknowledge its faults. Its comfy, it runs well, its a great highway car, it looks bad ass and Im glad they made it. BUt the interior is a cheap POS and the gaps in the body panels, well if they arent crooked, they are 1/4" to 1/2 WIDE. 10 yrs later the GTO absolutely shames it in build quality, materials and performance.
I just thought it funny how people say "its a big heavy car but its a great car" while the charger is a big heavy car, outperforms the ImpSS yet mopar sucks.
Or its got a lot of hard plastics inside, yet that is one of the two biggest things why people call the mustang and charger Pieces of Sh*t, the cheap hard plasticky interior. Makes me laugh.
I miss my dads 95. He sold it last year with only 22,000 miles on it.

Keep them both in the garage. The car has been garage kept since the day I bought it and really has helped maintain the integrity of the interior. But boy, is it a tight fit. Only complaint I had was the crappy front suspension. Rebuilt the entire front end with a Poly mount groupbuy from the ImpalaSSforum and haven't had a problem since.
i wish i had the money to afford an impala SS... them things ain't cheap!! 20K for a nice one... and caprices are even going up in price since people are cloning them. but i am very happy with my roadmaster. it's the cheaper alternative and i get a few more bells and whistles.
here's a few pics of the interior when i bought the car. like i said in my post earlier, it was perfect and still is...
here's a current shot of the exterior (don't have any updated shots of the interior)...
here's a shot of what the ricers see...
look at that Zaino shine...
i gotta say, the roadmaster is my favorite daily driver of all time. i kinda regret not getting the wagon version, but the car itself is excellent and hasn't given me any trouble. the few maintenance things i've had to do have been super easy (when you're used to working on 4th gen f-bods i think anything else is easy ). i just need mod money so i can make it fast... but with 7 cars, that's unfortunately not gonna happen.
I like the Roadmasters, but my favorites are the Caprice wagons that have been
"Impala-ized". I have a fried who wanted a minivan and I tried my best to talk him into getting a wagon and modding it into an Impala, but I failed; he got a Honda minivan.
My Impala SS is now a daily driver/beater. It is my car for the snow (still got the cables in the trunk!) and when my daughter turns 16, it'll become hers.
Kinda of funny, in stock form, the Impala SS had better 1/4 mile times, higher highway mpg and braking times than the same year Mustang GT!
I have considered selling it a few times, but this car has the feel as if it can go hundreds of 1000's of miles (like taxi's) and I would regret selling it. Also, it is one of the best cars for towing ever made.
the impala clone wagons are SWEET! i have a thing for wagons and those are bad ass. and i'm glad you're keeping your impala. they do go high mileage. i know i'll be able to get over 200,000 on my stock motor without a rebuild. i'm gonna run it as long as i can to see. the car was well maintained before i bought it with 102K on the clock so it may last well beyong 200K... what other car can give you that kind of reliability, power, a 5,000 lb tow capacity stock, and get good gas mileage (i get 29-30 on the highway, but i have the L05-180HP 350 with 3.08's)? b-bodies rule!

These are nice. Damn embarassing to get you doors blown in by one of these sleepers too. There are a couple of these monsters around. Dead give away is when they are trailered in to the track.
